I was thinking about doing this the other day, just not sure how it would look... has any one done it with blinker?

I was never a fan of rear lighting ... I believe now I am... I think i would prefer a more subtle look thought.... perhaps either a diffuser or spaced out light strip with a shinny metal reflector.

love the tin foil idea!

Very nice mod and clearly explained!

One cool thing to try (and probably one sure way to get a ticket) would be to find some way to make red and orange leds flicker randomely in the vents, kind of like the engine was overheating or something. Man! the look on people's face would be priceless!

where do you find plastic pieces like that. I want to try this with my own twists on wiring, but I cant think of where to look for the plastic backing? Looks good btw.

In regards to the plastic pieces, I am probably going to try using halved PVC pipe for mine. It seems like it'd be easy to get the reflectivity I want with a round housing. As for the reflective material though, I wonder if foil would be prone to corrosion. In another thread, mylar film was suggested. I just have to take some time wandering the Home Depot to see what's out there. I do really want to try to pull this off with a blinking amber strip though, I think it'd really pop.

Post pictures, let us know. I think I want to put some in that are always on, or with the blinkers, or on and then blink with blinkers.

Since i dont use my fogs anymore I will connect them into the fog light connector. Then I will be able to use the stock fog light switch for the LEDs. I will get on the projector as soon as I get back home

Dam nice write up man! very easy to follow. I did it this past weekend and added a few touches of my own. (Sorry for the shitty pictures, my digital camera decided to kill itself in the middle of the project)

I used some angle sheet metal from Home Depot that's used for skirting/siding on houses, you can get 12 foot of it for about $4

Name: DSCF00702.jpg

Then I cut it only on ONE side and bent the uncut side and formed it to the shape of the grill

I then shaped the metal snugly around the grill so i could get placement right for the LED's, then 3m taped them to the sheet metal

Then I installed the sheet metal using 3m tape and wired it in. I used some wire connectors on the bumper side and on the wires running from the car then taped the car wires to my foglight connector (So I could just disconnect the wires going from the car to the bumper the same as the foglights)

Now I'm just trying to find some UV demon eyes to add into the mix.

not sure about legality of it, but it would be super hot if you could hook those up to the turn signals/hazards.
