Custom all red tail lights...
I work at a custom graphics shop and I took some spare time and tried out some transparent red vinyl on my tails... lol after 5 tries I successfully laminated both tails flawlessly.... Let me know what you guys think... and trust me, the rx8 isn't the easiest car to laminate tails... I recommend spraying them!

I was considering blacking them out or at least a smoke tint to them... Just wanted to do something different, I see a lot of smoked tails on the 8s
I'm not even worried about the reverse lights... I was going to put red LEDs in them anyways... I just have to be more careful now

V-LEDs has a few for sale, I don't know if they are low profile enough for that look though. Look for PIAA on ebay.

yaaa... not my taste, but hey if you like it, go with it. I have been asked if the stock headlights and taillights are custom... so idk why you'd want to hide them...

I completely agree about not hiding them.... but I have been having a constant fogging problem with the tails and they are my third set. I have an extra set of brand new tails that I will keep clear for back ups. I didn't want smoke because everyone does it... I just wanted something different because I got tired of the fogging and I needed to hide it.

You could probably get a better result by using RIT dye. It worked fantastic on my clear corners, and if you could find a pot big enough for both tail lights I'm sure it'd look a lot better then a vinyl mask, and get rid of that cloudy look the vinyl gives it.
Seems like a good way to get pulled over to be honest, but the application of the film looks very nice.

Lebren.... It was all done freehand.... There really isn't a way to make a "template" from 2D material to apply to a 3D object. Wrapping these tails were, to be honest... A pain in the ***!!
If your vinyl looks foggy when your done then your doing it wrong... My tails are crystal clear....
Plus, if you use RIT dye there is no return... Your stuck with the color regardless whether you like it or not...

i was thinking about doing this, but went against it when i ps'ed it out
is there a way to put another layer of vinyl on top? maybe a slight tint. the red looks too bright imo.
i have other ideas with the tails though..

I see both sides... I'm a vinyl guy, i've been doing it for 6 years now so ultimately I have gained the patience. I'm always changed the style of my car so vinyl is perfect for my indecisive ways... lol
