Considering a Leather Bra - Anyone w/PICS???
So... As many have read, my front bumper recently got gouged pretty bad thanks to a dumbass WalMart employee. I've got all the estimates done to include repainting the front bumper. But it's not that noticeable from 20ft away as is, and I'm thinking about a Bra instead... And save a couple hundred bucks... I'll eventually get a body-kit, so the bumper will be replaced anyhow...
FIRST: I KNOW that they will cause paint to fade/discolor, and I KNOW that debris under the felt can scratch the paint. I've had bra's on my cars before, and am well aware. The paint is already jacked up, and I figure that the only piece that may do any more damage is the hood piece.
SECOND: Does anybody have good pics of their car with a Leather Bra? If so, WHAT BRAND? Unless someone here can verify the clean fitment of LeBra or another 3rd party, I'm going to go with Mazda. (Plus, it says RX-8 on it :D )
THIRD: I had a minivan with a bra on it, and the forners of the hood piece finally rubbed through the leather. Has this been a problem for anyone here?
Thanks for your input everybody!!!

If you're going to replace the front bumper, I wouldn't even bother with a bra. They look ugly and it's going to be useless after you purchase your new bumper. I'd just save that money and use it for the future purchase of your bumper.

About saving, I understand what you're saying. But that may be 12-18 months down the road. MEANWHILE, I'm either going to get a Bra or have the current bumper re-painted. Thanks for the input.

why not just get a clear bra?
try sending a PM to Detrich, he's a guy here in SoCal who has a bra on his car. I'm sure he has pics

whoops, missed the part about leaving the damage and covering it up with the bra. thought he was getting it fixed and buying a bra to prevent damaging the freshly repaired bumper.

yeah the bras look like crap and like others have said block flow. save the money and this gives you a reason to buy a body kit and go with the clear bra to prevent it from happening again. i dont know if i have even seen one on a car only a picture of one layed out on the floor for sale.

I have an official Mazda bra, aka front mask, and I find it useful in the way that I use it. I never drive winters and very seldom am in rain. If I do run into rain or otherwise, every 2-3 weeks, I pull it off and scrub the back side carefully. Why use one at all? Michigan roads are year round dirty and my polished bumper cover is already covered with stone nicks. Secondly, 15 minutes of driving on a summer evening "bare" results in a 30 minute cleanup job on the accumulated dead insects. Ugly? Pretty much yes, but less ugly than an entomological display that would otherwise be there.

As has been said above:
I'm not considering a bra to PROTECT a perfect paintjob. Merely because *I PERSONALLY* like the look of them, and it will cover up EXISTING imperfections. (READ: I'm NOT interested in a ClearBra, as it defeats the purpose of covering damage and saving money on re-painting the bumper.)

Rotaryboi its frustrating isn't it? It would help for someone to read all the posts rather than simply responding to your subject line and getting the same reccomendations over and over. Hey why don't you just get a clear bra!
