Clear bra on headlights ?

Hey everyone. I just noticed something on my headlights while getting some air outside. It appears to be like a clear film that's like flaking off and peeling. Now maybe this was here the whole time and maybe while I was on the highway a rock hit it and it chipped a piece of it off. But does anyone know what it could be ? Also when I restored my headlights with the meguirs kit ... There still was a hazy ness to the lights , could it be the clear bra thingy? Any help

Thanks

I have the same thing bro and mine are turning a nasty brown/reddish color.

Get a head gun or hair dryer and peel them off. You cannot restore the lights with the clear bra on them. You may have to restore them again when you get it off.

Alright thanks bro !! So that was probably why the hazyness stayed even after I restored them. How do I start peeling them from the corner though , how do I know where the film starts ? And what exactly is it and can I get them redone after I restore them ?

just take a heat gun or a hair dryer and heat up the edge and start peeling. It will come off really easy once it gets heated up. It will likely leave a lot of nasty residue from the adhesive however. I used a razor and lots of goo gone to get all the residue off. Then I finished everything with the Turtle Wax headlight restoration kit because I had scratched up my headlights something fierce.

I'm doing this in my garage right now, but I can't find where the film starts at the edge. I tried heating the edges and I cannot find where the films edge is. Sorry but I lack skills in these things

hmmm the edge was clearly visible on mine.

try to snap a pic for us?

You could just heat it up and hack into it in the middle with your razor

I'm not sure if that is a film or not from your pic. Usually, any kind of clear bra material is going to have a slight "orange peal" texture to it, at least mine does on my car. Your headlight lenses look very smooth. What happens if you try heating it up and pealing it from the "hole" that is shown in the pic? Can you start pealing it from there? That might just be a scratch.

Which headlight restoration kit did you use anyway? Several of them include pads for sanding, you may want to try one of those kits if you haven't already. I used the RainX kit last week and it worked pretty good, got rid of a lot of little scratches and nicks. I might go over it a second time this weekend.

Im 99 percent sure its a film. Cause when i put my finger in the hole (LOL) i can feel a bump around the edges. In terms of texture, its not orange peal like. Its literally like a smooth clear plastic (kinda like clear tape). I did try heating up the part where it peeled and it would peal easy. I stood there for literally 2 minutes heating it with a blow dryer but it didnt come off. Its no biggie but it does **** me off when i look close (i like my car to be mint as most of us do).

BTW i used the meguiars kit

Old thread, but were you ever successful at removing this film?

I think I have the same problem, can someone confirm?

^ i wasnt sorry. I just kind of forgot about it and left it. But it seems your problem is different .. its around the edges. My problem is like theres a film on my headlight. If you look at the parking light housing (the black housing)... you can clearly see the line.

I'm not sure what's on mine put its like a clear plastic, a big "flake" of it came off when I scratched it with my finger. Underneath just looks slightly dull.
