Those must be custom strakes. The OEM strakes would not mount there. There should be a different mounting system given the location of the two (not visible) supports in the vent opening. Those may just be stuck there with 2-sided tape ... hard to speculate. But knowing the contours of the OEM strakes, I'd say there had to be some custom grinding to get them to sit where they are shown in that pic.

Looks like D'Mix's ride ... maybe he can shed some light.

I like #2 in black. That price is the X factor. Put my name in the hat.

Yes, they would have to be custom ground to be installed as such. The area they are in are different angles than what the OEMs are mounted in.

It wouldn't be installed with tape alone, the Aluminum OEMs are way to heavy to rely upon that alone. Since these side vents do have an area that is higher than the fender support bridges, it would be possible to drill the mounting hole (First edition OEM strakes only) and mount them in the traditional method of using a bolt with washer and lock washer as this added raised area would allow such.

I'm not sure that I like these with the strakes now that I see them this way...especially in CF

They have stolen my design, I originally posted a month and half ago something to this effect and design whereby turning the vents in towards the front just as they have done. This is the only photo I have currently on my work computer but I will revisit this post this evening. Imagine, if you will, that the grille is towards the front but is black. Thank you my10ae for use of his black strakes he got from antichristpm a long time ago.

The first pic is in CF, it is just dark.

These could be made with and without strakes, that would not be difficult but the strakes would have to definately be custom made. We do that.

Hey Dennis,
Is this something that could be done as a DYI (without the strakes)?

Yeah, but it is not as easy to cut that OEM plastic grille out as you think. It is thick and deep. The result would have to be something that you would have to put a lot of fabication in to. Sometimes it is easier to make a mockup model that is smooth and finished looking then cast a mold as the model may not be as strong as the molded piece. I have made a mock up of some parts, molded them, took the mold, cast the resin, then turned around and worked with the resin to get it to where I want it to be and then remolded the cast resin piece so that it is what I want it to be. That is what I did with the Oil Cooler Grilles.

This is the design I was referring to. I posted this pic back a couple of months ago as something I was planning on modding.
