The black cover can be taken off. It is held in place by four bolts along the top.
The sad thing is the grille only goes up to a little past the cover. That is when I decided to try without it.
It has held up very well. When I park the car it is always hanging down where it should be. It does help that I have the extra weight of the plate holder.
Better flow for the radiator, and intercooler which is not in the picture.
I took the bumper bar out because I decided the intercooler could take the impact instead, if I was to get in a front end collision. When I did remove it I had to use bolts and nuts to secure the bumper next to the head lights.

I just say suck it up and roll without on. What's a 20 dollar ticket versus messing up a 1,200 dollar front bumper? I'd sit there and take tickets all day. They'll never equal out in my book.

It is a $95 dollar ticket here. So twelve to fifteen tickets and I could buy a new bumper. Besides I didn't cut anything the holes were there for the black cover. I can always restore it to original.
I will be installing my Blinder Xtreme system and having the grille off is much better suited. I will be mounting them on either side of the plate.

Sorry to resurrect the thread again. I am not sure if I should start new thread or not.
Just got pulled over by cops coz no front plate. Just warning, no ticket.
I leave in CA. I know it is illegal here and I still intentional pulled front plate off last week because it was blocking my recently installed Racing Beat ram air duct and render it less effective or useless....
I also hate rabbit tooth look.
I have RX-8 MT (2 oil cooler), MS kit and fog lights.
Any place that you would recommend to install it?
I am thinking of lower corner passenger side but still, look like it will block an oil cooler.
