Anyone have MS front nose with a license plate

Hi,
Does anyone have the Mazdaspeed front nose with a license plate ?
If so, can you please post a pic ?
I want it, but live in NJ and have to deal with the plate issue.
Thanks,
-B

Doesn't everyone pretty much have to deal with the plate issue? Are there states where this isn't law?

I know I would never put a plate on the front of my car, much less once I have the MS front!

I work in PA.. which does not require a front plate.

Let's bring this back up. I just bought one a RX8 that has the mazdaspeed kit and I live in Cali. Where am I going to put the plate and how? Anyone have any ideas or ways they have done it? The guy didn't have it on before, but I am not sure I want to chance it, especially the way the car looks and sounds. Thanks guys.

I live and work in NJ all my life. For the past 8 years I've not had front plates on my car and I've not been bothered about it at all. I just put it on for inspection, thats about it. Usually saves me from bigger tickets (*cough* speeding *cough*) as well, be nice and the traffic boys would likely be nice back and give a lesser ticket. If I remember correctly, its not a primary offense so they can't pull you over for it but can tack it on if you get pulled for something else. Kinda like how seatbelt laws used to be a few years back.

EDIT: Carry your front plate and put it on the dash if you park backed into a space often, else some townships will just tow you straight away if you back into a fence and they can't get to your plates to write a parking ticket or something.

Outlaws eXtreme 05-08-2005 10:53 PM

Not in California... if you put the plate in the dash, it doesn't matter, that's a ticket for no front plate. It's as if there was no plate at all in your dash.. so why waste it. Just suck it up, take your chances with no front plate, and if you do get a ticket, just have a friend cop sign it off. Otherwise you're going to start having to put the plate in front.

I have some pictures.

Batman220 05-09-2005 08:45 AM

Nice, that is what I was looking for. I assume they just used some sort of L-bracket attached up under the nose?

If you get the genuine Mazdaspeed kit i'm pretty sure you can easily mount it to the black bar underneath the top of the nose or to the bottom of the nose itself via an L-bracket, I'm not sure with the replica kits though. Here's two more, I think the second one belongs to a board member.

Thanks for bringing this up. I have the MS replica and got pulled over this past weekend for no front license plate and wasn't even sure it could be done with the kit.

that front plate kills the look
I have not had my front plate on for almost two years in cali
and I have not got pulled over once

You're lucky.

Mikelikes2drive 02-24-2006 04:08 PM

will zip ties work? if i just zip tie it in the front??? and then of course take it off as soon as i get home.

Dagious 02-25-2006 06:53 PM

No front plate in Michigan.
they have it in Ohio and they constantly pull over people from MI because of it.....

snwboardr9876 02-26-2006 01:06 PM

you could probably mount it behind the grill, that way it still looks good but technically not against the law which is what I had planned on doing but forgot to tell the people at the shop so they ended up drilling through the black bar on the top of the grill so now I have two nice large holes when I take it off

i have been begging this state to allow certain cars to have no plates
example a 200 fee a yr for no plate, but u guys get the idea.

BigOLundh 02-28-2006 11:24 PM

Here's a pic of adrian-1's 8 with a plate. Looks OK (imo).

I'm still driving my car (with mazdaspeed bumper) without the plate, and probably will continue to do so.

Does anyone know what the spoiler is on the silver car?

Dro 03-09-2006 11:59 AM

I was just going to comment on that, it appears to be R-Magic CF w/ painted side pieces.

Its fuckin hot and I want it on my silver 8. Its gonna be expensive but OMG

DynamicDookie just screwed his plate through the black portion of the MS bumper. I'll try and find a pic I took from one of our Malibu cruises.

I went back and forth on the front plate. I have the Blinder Xtreme and did not want to be pulled over for no plate since they couldn't get a Laser reading...

Here's a pics of mine.

And a pic of another possible way to mount it so it is easier to take off and not leave holes...

Is the plastic black piece that goes across the bumper available from the dealer?

BoosTED 04-11-2008 08:30 AM

Zip ties to make a hinge, when the air is blowing on the plate it folds up. When you stop gravity lets it back down.

^Good stuff. Too bad I actually have the black bar on my MS front bumper. Does anyone know if it's easy or difficult to cut some of the plate off? I'm trying to think of ways of mounting the plate on w/o drilling.
