#8 washer mod?
Has anyone done the #8 washer mod on their HIDs? I have the stock 4300K bulbs and love the look of the purple/blue cut-off line. I would like to know how this mod works on the RX-8 HIDs. Thanks.

I guess you can add washers somehow to the projector so the light from the bulb hits the lens at a different angle. The result is a very visable blue/purple band where the light cutoff is. It creates a nice purple/blue flicker for oncoming cars. Best of all, you can keep your bright white 4300K bulbs. Not sure if this can be on the rx8 though.

I was on a automotive lighting forum that had some rx8 that had done it. I don't remember the forum or if he used stock lights. I've done a ton of google searches and can't find it. I'll keep on searching i guess. It looked really sweet.

did the lights retain the same cutoff?
I've replaced mine with 10,000K Acura replacements and my line cutoff turned into a massively fat U that I love... The HID's cost 60 bucks on ebay(new)...

Hey guys, my friend just picked up some rx8 projectors for a mod. I decided to try the washer mod for more color and better cutoff. IT made a huge difference!!! Check it out!!

He goes on to say he used one #8 washer per leg on the rx-8 projectors to give the color seen in the left picture above. I know there are some DIY threads on that forum for a different projector (TSX i think, not the rx8). I'll do some more searches on that forum once i have time. If it's an easy mod, it might be worth a try.

It might look cool, but in Cali, it will attract more attention than a fat chick wearing a g-string. And thats not a good thing.
I have a extra set of headlights that I tried baking, with no success. The glue that holds it together is just to gooey. I was hoping to switch projectors or atleast removing that dang shield. On HIDplanet guys get really good results with modding the RX8 projectors, but they usually find their way into 'other' cars.

The colored line is cool, but perhaps it is unsafe and is it going to make the lights look different to oncoming traffic ? might be dangerous for other drivers and get you more tickets if so.
