AL Turbo-8 Int-x -- need help.

Ok, so my car you can find the specs here:

Ben's Turbo Rx-8 Huntsville, AL

My problem is that every time that I am accelerating, at exactly 1750 RPMs, the SSV actuator cycles with a distinct "CLICK" and there is a sudden short loss of power. sometimes when the car is warming up, it will idle in this range, with multiple "CLICKS" in succession.

any help or ideas on how to correct this? I am using the Int-X EMU.

Needs tuning The SSV is set to open at a set RPM..and if the car on fast idle sits near there...it will cycle open/closed

Would anyone like to help with tuning my car? I'd bring my car to you if you are close to Alabama. I have the int-x and everything is set up to use it. I could also move to the Cobb AP, but I'd need someone to change out my secondary injectors as they are low impedance.

I also need other odd and end stuff work done, but Is there anyone wanting the work?

I have had the worst of luck with my turbo RX-8 ever since I bought it from someone on this forum back in 2007. I drove it for a few months, blew the engine seals, and had mazsport rebuild the engine, which took them almost a year to do. So, in 2008 I got my car back and managed to drive it to early 2010 until it started acting funny (like the Tune was failing, or a leak in the BOV, so I promptly parked my car in my garage, and haven't touched it until now, three years later. Now I'm ready to work on it more.

What I need, I think, and someone correct me if I am wrong is to remove the Interceptor-X and obtain the Cobb AccessPort and have someone tune it.
The only thing that stands in the way, I think are my two low impedance injectors in the Front and Back Secondary Position. I'd have to replace those injectors with something.

I would like suggestions on Injectors, who to take my car to, who is good. I live in Alabama.

I measured the resistance across all my injectors here in this post:

What are your goals with the car? What psi do you plan to run? so you do not have stock injectors? you should have went to mazmart for your rebuild. They are much closer, faster, and better customer service.
Depending on your goals with the car we can make a recommendation on the injector setup. Cobb is going to be your best bet as far as tuning goes.

My Goal with this car is to just get it running reliably. I don't want to push the car to its limits and break it again. So that means to me just a moderate boost PSI.

What I really need is to know what exact injectors to purchase for the car knowing that I will be using the Cobb Accessport for tuning.

My first step is to buy injectors and install them.

Buy 2 ID 1000's for the secondarily ( or 750 or 850's for that matter) If you run stock Primaries or the blue stock sec in the primaries you will have lots of fuel

For your stated goals ...... there is no need to upgrade the injectors . Changing them can be a mission for most people and it does make it harder to tune . I would leave them alone.

Do you have a link? I have no idea what I am looking for. I didn't find much on the way of information showing pictures for injectors. Most injector posts I run across have flow rate numbers and not complete model numbers. A injector information thread would be usefull.

I am under the impression that I must change out at least the injectors in the secondary postions, or else I will burn out my Mazda computer, because the injectors placed in my secondary locations are Low Impedance.

I made a chart measuring the resistance across each injector

See it here:

If that is the case then you don't have stock injectors in there ...... what colour are they ? All 4 on that bank should be yellow if they are stock.

Step 1. Buy a Cobb Access Port and ditch that Int-x crap.
Step 2. email kane@pp02performance and pay him to tune it. Or drive the car to Dallas and have it tuned by Steve Kan or have Steve flown in to tune it.
Step 3. Or whisper sweet nothings in Brettus' ear and try to convince him to help you.
Step 4. Start learning about what you have.

He needs to go back to injectors that will work first...if he has Low impedance ones....

Stock injectors would likely be good to about 280HP....and likely wouldn't need more than that

If he goes to some Injector Dynamics ones he will have lots of headroom and injectors that work well...

Search for Injector Dynamics and you will find lots of options

Fuel injectors to purchase for Greddy Turbo

Ok, I am actually getting around to this again, and have decided to try and get the car running using the Cobb Accessport.

So I was just about to purchase 4 yellow and 2 red stock injectors, then I seen this thread and was wondering if I should get yellows all around or yellow blue blue.

I just seen this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-eng...-setup-214022/

and got this basic info:
primary -> yellow

secondary -> blue

P2 -> blue

went well. I Daily drove the car for roughly 11k miles. Finally dropped a seal on rear rotor. Planning a rebuild for next year since I'm knee deep in another project at the moment. Try contacting Brett to see if he will lend a hand with the tuning. It might cost you but he's really good.

Yellow, Blue, Blue is fine.

Red, Yellow, Yellow (as long as both yellows are uncapped) is ok.

Basically you have two latency tables in the Cobb, one affects the Injector 1, and the other, affects the other two injectors.

I run yellow, uncapped yellow, uncapped yellow

I'm on a bnr 60-1 and have run 15psi with that setup. I believe Slash made 400+ on the same injector setup.

If I had more free time I would be happy to help you out with the tuning since you're only a couple hours away but my time is so limited as of late

Y'all in the Huntsville, Alabama area ? And I was also wondering if about 8 psi of boost would be good for a stock Renesis . I plan on rebuilding it but that'll be later !

Yes, I'm in the area. Be sure you want to turbo the car, its a lot of work, and quite a bit of $$ dough.

It looks like I will be acquiring two yellow and four blue fuel injectors. Looks like they are about $100 apiece, so possibly I can pick some up on the forum or from a used car parts store.
