Temps changes A/fthe

I am using emanage and running 07/07 map found on here on my turbo 8.

Temps went down to 70s to 85 from high 90s and now my 8 is sputtering. Before it did not.

did the temps change the a/f and made it sputter?

Thanks

Chris

When I had my CZ in and the temps went up from winter to summer, I had to adjust my fuel trims. Since the GReddy is supposed to be in open-loop under boost, I don't know off hand why the AFR would change. If I were you, I'd install a WB02 just to keep an eye on things. It would sure help diagnose random issues like this.

BTW, what RPM range does it sputter in?

One thing I always wondered about...if they are telling the PCM that the coolant temp is low to fool it into open loop....what happens to the operation of the cooling fans when the motors get hot? Do they still work normally??

This can't be good..............

Sputters when vacuum reaches .02 bars. I am beginning to think that my plugs are fouled, i am running the colder plugs and heard they do foul easy. Change the fuel map several times and did not make that much of a difference.

The fooler only comes on under boost. So when you are sitting still, the fans should work normally. I don't even know if the main ECU runs the fans. Maybe there's a temp. controlled relay that operates seperately. (?)

Yup the PCM controls cooling fan operation,Basically if the ECT signal shows a temperature less than 206.6F,no fan will run.

The frig in the Greddy control system must fake the ECT to be less than 106F(taken from mada publication 9999-95-102f-04).

This can't be a good solution to trying to tune the turbo's...the last thing this car needs is a reason for the fans to not come on

We fired up the Megasquirt on the RX-8 for the very first time today. We were looking at Canscan to watch what the car was doing. We mostly played at idle but did notice that the a/f ratio did affect coolant temps. We could watch them change as I richened it up or leaned it out. If the coolant temps change, so do the oil temps.

well, to answer the original question, in testing i found about a .5 difference in a/f ratio between an 80 degree day and a 30 degree day

Thanks for all the input, I think that my problem was not the a/f changing now though. I am running one range colder plugs and am turboed. I had my turbo timer set to run for 8 minutes and fouled the plugs. Once I set it back to three minutes and drove it some, it is fine. I am going to post this on the Turbo timer diy later tonight.

Nope, disregard that previous post, now i have finally found the problem with my ratios. The ltft and stft, had not heard of that, so if you have not, read up! I will reset my ecu weekly now until i get a better solution than the emanage. The stock ecu was leaning my ratio out even under boost, don't uderstand why but it did. Thanks for all the input though.
