Cobb AP, hands down is the most complete engine management tool currently available for the RX-8.

you can have MM tune it, your'e in Texas which means RG might be able to help (didn't he start playing with the Tuner software recently), or just find a local shop who is familiar with the AP.

Even if you went with the untimate or the interceptor X who is going to tune your car? They still have to be tuned and you will be unhappy with the result.

Go with the Cobb AP from MM- the first six months worth of tunes are free and after that you can take out an extended tune contract with MM.

Cobb is the best. Try and find a tuner in Texas. I am sure all of the subie shops that tune Cobb's can figure it out.

subie tuners are a dime a dozen but finding someone who can tune an RX-8 without grenading an engine is a different story.

Lots of reading you must do.
Choose wisely.

Steve Kan is in Houston I think? He does AP Tuning for the Rx8. He's quite well known in Rx7 circles. He'd be an option if you want it dyno tuned if you're within a million miles of Houston. Texas is a big state.

Steve Kan doesn't do a whole lot of rotary tuning these days.

It ain't rocket science, you can learn how to tune your own.

Of course I plan on having MM keep tuning mine. Safer that way

Apparently rx7club won't let him organize tuning sessions on their because he's not a vendor. And he might be in the DFW area. I don't know - I'm 2000 miles away.

Every 8 owner every where except Phoenix says the same thing. Some have just learned to do their own tunes. Most rely on Jeff (MM).

I had my say - no use beating a dead horse

i'm using the interceptor x cuz my tuner has experience with it.. so i guess it all depends on what's convenient.

If you get the AP you can get mm to tune it initially then - load race tuner and have a go your self . If you can't make it work you can always reload the MM map ....
Just a thought .
