Just get a usb extension cable that will plug directly into the cz (not the laptop). It will be much easier that way.

 

well i needed like another 8 to 10 ft so it could reach my home computer.i guess its the same thing right?

You can use an extension cable....but you need to use the CZ cable from the unit to the extension....then the extension to your laptop. Don't plug a USB cable from the CZ unit to the laptop....they are not compatable!!!!!!

 

Not quite. Plug the USB extention cable into the unit. On the other end of it, plug in your programming cable. Plug that into your laptop. It may work the other way around as well, but the above is what we do.
