Hymee Scanalyzer Setup Problem (operator problem?)

Really, I have tried. I think my problem may be a com port setting. I bought this logger second hand and have tried multiple times to load it/ run it on two laptops. It will say connecting for a few seconds, but after that does nothing.

The laptops are set up for com port 4, so i change the Scanalyzer to com port 4. As i said, it acts like it will connect, but nothin.

How do you change which com port the laptop is set up for? My two laptops present me with dif problems. My laptop is Windows 7 and has 64 bit capability. I can't see where to change it except some advanced screen that requires me to type in a code that looks like Hex and an IRQ. Never done that before. The other machine is from work, is XP (which this software is designed for) and may be partly locked down.

It may be relevant that both laptops rquire an adapted (Belkin) to connect the serial cable to the USB port. I no longer have a laptop with a serial port.

Thanks for any help trying to change com ports on a laptopl

USB. The Belkin device is supposed to 'translate' from the device which is has a 9 pin serial connector.

So, after the "connecting" symbol ends, I should just keep waiting?

Hi Ganseg

A couple of things you need to know, first the Scanalyser software will not work with a 64bit operating system, only 32bit. It does not work well with Windows 7, if at all, it will work with XP and works best with Vista.
If you are trying to get Scanalyser Live to work, it does not work in USB form, only in the older Serial form with a good USB adaptor.
You will have lots of hassle getting it to work, you will get very frustrated.
Hope this helps abit.

Okay, I had this running on my laptop (windows 7 ultimate, 32 bit) and on my desktop (XP pro, 32bit) without issue. I didn't realize the other laptop was 64 bit. It will not work in 64 bit, there are no drivers written for it. Your work laptop is likely locked down through group policy and will not allow it to install correctly.

Do you have access to a 32 bit machine that you are an administrator on?

I don't have access to a thrid machine and don't want to buy one with Vista and a serial port

I would think there would be a way that this would run 32 bit on my home machine. IE runs in two versions on it - for example some videos won't run when i am on the 64 bit verion of IE, so I switch to the 32 bit and it works fine.

I am not sweating this. I had similar problems with my Ross-Tech software (similar goals but with a 1.8T engine) - I cried when i no longer had a serial port on my laptop and then moved on.

I appreciate all the support.

Software is not the issue running on a 64bit machine usually, its the drivers that won't work for the USB adapter and brain for the Hymee. Windows can usually run 32 bit software no problem unless it's really old software.

Are you cool with any of your company IT guys? Maybe they can sneak you an admin password so you can install it on you work laptop.

Send me the laptop and I will erase the administrator accounts password and send it back to you.

I had this working via USB, changing the mode of the dongle from logger to programmer to scanner worked. (after each "personality" change you needed to restart the system)
Now, my system hangs on the loading the USB drivers.

At first I was using VMware and a XP/SP3 VM, when the driver started failing, I went to real Windows XP, SP3 on the same laptop.
Same issue, cannot load the USB driver for the programmer dongle.

This was working flawlessly in a Windows XP VM 3 months ago.

What the @#$% has Microsoft "updated" that broke it now?

Do you think it will be simple if I find a machine with a serial port? I was trying to get by on the cheap

What benefits are there of the Hymee over an un-marriable AccessPort? beside the gauge display
