the boost gauge seems off by a few psi compared to my autometer...it's hard to tell which it is though, the boost gauge or the ebc

the one thing I don't like about the gizzmo is it does not show vacuum...only boost

as far as the distance from the controller to solenoid, I am not sure honestly...I've never played around with that

If you want a tested and proven controller, I'd say just go for the greddy. It may be a bit trickier to get set up, but everyone seems happy with it once they get it dialed in.

I have had very good success with the Greddy...and for the price it does the job.

I did a blitz one which was ok too, but no start boost only set and gain. The factory EBC's are by far the best - but that is cause you can tune them in a 3D profile.

Thats all my AEM has too Just spring pressure and duty cycle. I do have the Synapse WG though..so hopefully I can find a balance using the different ports and or springs/valve seats

Yup that's why I didn't like that one. You can turn up the spring pressure though and it will affect spool.

I was wondering that. If I set my spring pressure to higher than my actual WG setting, will it keep the solenoid open and give me greater initial spool then level off at whatever psi the duty cycle setting calls for?

My other option would be to put in my bigger spring. But then my minimum boost is greater and a boost controller error would be fatal.

Yup. I wouldn't mess with the duty cycle until you get the spring pressure where you want it. If you turn the spring pressure up too high, your boost curve will not be stable. So keep that in mind. Its a pretty similar concept as gain control really.

the spring pressure setting on the AEM Tru Boost has nothing to do with gain or feedback, because the AEM Tru Boost is completely open loop.

The "spring pressure" on the AEM Tru Boost is the same as the "START BOOST" aka SET GAIN on the Greddy Profec Spec II. It's the boost level at which the wastegate is allowed to open, when solenoid duty begins to drop from almost 100% to whatever your duty setting is.

The instructions actually say the spring pressure affects spool but I know nothing so...I guess I will keep my mouth shut and let your expertise shine here. I go by my own experience, but I could very well be wrong. I'm no expert.

Spring pressure does affect spool bro.

Spring Pressure: (SPr – 2.00)
Enter the waste gate spring pressure. The Tru Boost will keep the boost
solenoid open from 1 psi until boost exceeds the selected value. This value can be
adjusted to reduce lead in boost spikes or reduce spool up time. If the spring pressure
is unknown, a conservative starting value of 5 is suggested.
Same as Start Boost = see step one of my DIY.

That's what I thought. And that quote is exactly what the aem tru boost instructions say.

It will work - it just may not be ideal...

Set up your spring pressure until you get your target boost without over shooting it, then adjust the Set value to try to hold it as best you can without getting creep.

profec b question

Hi guys...I have a profec b spec2 ebc...I jus wanted to ask, is there any reason why I can't go below 5% for gain when I turn it? I've seen a couple of threads where their gain is at 3% or even 0...I'm not sure how this can be done. Am I misunderstanding something or is this normal? Tnx in advance!

Werd have fun man.

I think you are going to be suprised at how hard the car pulls to redline if you cna keep that 9-10 psi going....

NA RX8 = Electric Motor-ish rush to redline
Turbo RX8 = More like a V8
Turbo RX8 with boost control = Like a V8, that keeps pulling to redline just like a stock 8, only a lot faster.

I've got the Gizzmo in my set up and am pretty happy with it, it holds booste better than any other I've tried with minimal effort to set up. One major bad thing with it in my eyes anyway, the pressure sensor is in the unit itself, meaning you have to run a pressure line inside the car. Not something I like doing as that is alot of rub points that could degrade the hose.

I'm peaking at 12 psi and dropping to 10 psi now. Hoping to get it to hold 12 psi the whole way
