So, you are a bit of Mrs. Slocombe if you believe yourself to be in a majority.

Umm, exactly. That's usually where miscommunication issues start; assuming you each understand exactly what the other person is saying when you are probably both saying or talking about two completely different things, particularly with the kind of person who is hell bent beyond all reason on insisting he is right and everyone else is wrong.

I have no need to insist on anything other than the unwary avoiding twits like you with unvalidated, unconstrained Chicken Little scenarios foisted on them as fact.

It has never worked for me, neither on my Mac nor on a Dell netbook with a clean Win7 install. My AP locks up occasionally while logging standalone, so maybe there are some electrical continuity problems.
I've since mostly switched to ScanXL, so I lost the motivation to troubleshoot the problem.

These days, it would seem that every thread fits that description.

Guess i'll try re-downloading everything, used the same stuff I was running on my pc. I don't think its a connection issue though, i can have everything plugged in and connect the ap to one or the other for their uses but never both to do dashboard and pc logging. I can even be in monitor mode with the the car running, and hit connect, and ATR will freeze until i quit monitor mode on the ap, then it continues and freezes the same as every other way I have tried it. So I guess just install ATR and the manager and see what happens?

Lash out in frustration much?

I have no idea wtf you are rambling about there but I don't have any issue connecting to dashboard, live tuning, etc.

Funny you should put it that way though. The biggest unvalidated, unconstrained Chicken Little scenario being foisted on this forum is that you are the only person capable of fully tuning an RX8 with the AP software.

Then what are you going on about?

I don't know who would suggest that I am the only one that can do it. I've spent a considerable amount of time trying to help and instruct other people on exactly how I do it. (Nor do I see how that is a Chicken Little scenario - you might want to check Wikipedia on that one).
I am the only one that can sell new AccessPORTs for the RX-8. That is just market position - it doesn't have anything to do with the sky.
As far as tuning them goes, the simple fact is no one has tuned as many as I have by a very long margin and no one else has obtained the same results in the same volume. I think it is not that no one else can do it, rather that no one else really wants to.
I don't blame them.

I wanted to say thank you,

I got my access port dongle to talk to my ECU and Laptop.
I did have some issues but for whatever reason my computer didn't want to load dongle drivers with the dongle plugged into the car. once I got the dongle drivers in everything seemed to work great, connection was a couple seconds, I could see how slower computers might take longer.

I also wanted to add that I was able to get my LC-1 WO2 to work with ATR as well!!!
so now I can datalog two WO2 sensers!!!

Edit => Configure options => LM-1 Tab, set the COMPORT number, (I am using a serial to usb) go under device manager and see what comport the lc-1/lm-1 is at. and your ready to go

there are other supported widebands like PLX and Motec

one issue I had at first was ATR was reading weird number for the lc-1 (4.92 = 14.7, 3.5=11.2), in the end I had to go to LM Programmer 3.29 and reset the sensor to (gas 14.7) mine was set at a weird custom number 1723, somehow the gauge and logworks work just fine with some weird custom number, but not ATR. this maybe due to the fact that I recently changed the sensor.

anyways it was great to get the readings at the same sample rate of 2 different afr's
I also noticed that the datalog values from the access port logs are slightly different

Because of the sampling data rate difference, when logging at a lower sampling rate it is more prone to missing peak values etc

Reading the instructions would have saved you the agony of that one.

I am not sure what instructions you are referring to, cobb only offers this
http://accessecu.com/support/docs/ma...UserManual.pdf

and ATR help is limited, maybe you have a resource your willing to share?
all the other products have a nice tuning guide on cobbs site but not for the rx-8

interesting rx-8 = http://cobbtuning.com/categories/?id=3111

Mazdaspeed = http://cobbtuning.com/categories/?id=3112

notice the ATR option is not available for the rx-8, therefor no tuning guide....

The tuning guide for the RX8 is supplied in the ATR software after you install it. It is more or less incomplete and useless.

Just tried again with no luck. I uninstalled everything cobb related off my tablet which runs windows 7 32. I installed the latest ATR and said yes to everything. Then I installed latest AP Manager 2.0 and said yes to everything. I plugged in the AP when asked. I downloaded my current flash off the ap and loaded it into ATR. I turned on my car and made sure I could monitor from the AP and then went back to the main menu on the AP. I went into ATR and clicked Connect to ECU. It said to make sure the ignition was on and the diagport was connected which it was. I still get the can't connect to ECU. I have tried rebooting after installing each program, and also rebooted after wiping it when I started. monitoring and datalogging from the ap works fine. Talking to it with ap manager works fine. PC to Car no go. Is there like an exact order to install and connect this thing that I am missing. I have also called Cobb and talked to someone for about an hour while in the car. Ended up giving him all my ap and software versions with my phone number and email which was about 2-3 months ago and still haven't heard back.

Any assistance would be great. I have done every possible thing I can think of at this point. All settings are default in ATR and Manager.

Manager is 2.0.1.5
ATR is 1.8.0.0-11359
Driver is 1.2.2
Firmware is 1.6.1.1-13820

Merry Christmas

I have a W7 laptop, no issue other than waiting for the initial connection delay that has to transpire first. After that, no problem.

Actually now that I pulled my dongle from under my dash and looked at it a few min ago, should pin 5 and 6 which is middle top row stick out a little bit compared to the others? I know 5 is ground and 6 is data so I would think its fine since the only other pins left is data and power on 14 and 16

Probably a hardware incompatibility with your tablet since tablets are not supported by Cobb.
Use a real computer.

I have a 2b and I have used like 5 different computers. I have even dragged my damn i7 gaming rig outside. So trust me, it is not because I am on a tablet. I know how computers work, I am not some idiot Jeff so quit your lame excuses, that are seriously starting to **** me off. I don't hate you, but I really want to drive down there and bitch slap you in the head a few times right now lol. I think I'd even be doing Team a favor :p
