HELP Mazsport Ignition Solution Ignitor box

I picked up a Mazsport ignition solution from a member who was running it on his car. put it on mine, started it up and everything sounded and seemed to run great.
However, i noticed it didnt sound right in 1st and 2nd gear low rpm as if it was bogged down.

after checking i found that the L1 (#1) position coil is not firing. traced it back to the connector and the connection is good. move the plug to the coil from #2 or #1 trailing and the coil checks good working.

THEN i plugged in an old OEM coil into the stock L1 connector in front of the mazsport ignitor box and the dang thing fires!

Im checking all the wiring from the stock connector to the ignitor box Mazsport and from it to the coil. so far no breaks, im using a meter to check for breaks in the wires.

things seem to be pointing towards the ignitor box! how do you check those things out, and where would a guy get one?

any clues or tips for a guy who should have went with the BHR solution!?

help me get back to running good please.

Thanks,

Tom

Unfortunately the ignitor boxes were a major weak point in that ignition kit, I saw a local member here go through 3 ignitor boxes before the car properly functioned. Not trying to scare you, just stating that I've seen this before.

The boxes can be purchased, I forget who makes these to be honest but try PM'ing Brice at Race Roots, he might remember the manufacturer and where you can purchase a replacement if it ends up being faulty.

The replacement box im pretty sure is the x4 or x6 from microtecefi.com if you give me a bit ill find out im pretty sure its the same thing i have a friend who's box blew and he used the x4 or x6. You need to really make sure you ground the box or else it will definitely blow.

For now, i have done the following to get me back on the road. i hope this doesnt screw anything else up.

i put back in one of the good OEM coils and RB plug wires, on the #1 Leading that was not firing from the box.

now the car runs great. idles fine, accelerates fine.

i am going to order a box if i can just to get by.

by the way Charles (BHR) what is the lead time on a "system"?

i may cut my losses and by one immediately.

im tired of the ignition issues.

Thanks,
Tom

Don't even waste time with another ignitor module and upgrade the system
Having no "intermediaries" such as the module between the coils and the ecu, when possible, is never a bad idea.

Thanks, checked with my local rotary guru and he had an X6 in his tool box for a setup he was considering for his 20B.
But no X4.
Charles, he agrees with you, it was probably bad when i got it.
hoping the guy steps up and makes it right.
i have emailed him and awaiting a reply.

The ignitor could blow the first time you turned in the key if it wasn't grounded properly

It is a poor design in the board

Yeah even the point they tell you to ground it at is a bad choice i grounded mine somewhere different then they suggested. If you are going to get rid of the whole "solution" let me know i will gladly purchase the coils and whatever else you have. While not having the box is great because it eliminates possibility for failure its not a big deal i just sold my backup ignition solution i have had my current one for about 20,000 miles if your getting rid of it for a good enough price ill take it.

ok, well it looks as though this is on me now. they guy i bought it from says it is not his fault and no guarantees. he said it worked on his car. but funny how i find in his posts that he had problems a while back with coil problems.

he did sell it to me cheap, but, it really doesnt matter what i paid for it if the dang thing doesnt work like it is suppose to.

here i am kicking myself in the arsch!

okay back to square one, to get back on the road.
