Talking Happy with the product!

I put my 1.1 on last week and didn't notice a difference except a little more "umpf" at about 8K. I didn't have much time to mess with it because I was so busy at work and then I went out of town last weekend. This week after I returned home I decided to do the brake tap to clear the memory and see if that helped. The engine seems to be much louder (sounds good) and you can definatly tell that something is different/better. However i did have a few strange things happen. Yesterday @ WOT I had a huge lose in power at 8K ( felt like i hit the brakes). It is the first and only time it has happened, and it was shortly after I had started the engine.( this engine does a lot of strange things..even before the 1.1 on my first WOT after startup(not cold engine) it would be very jerky... just not as drastic as this past one... Just wanted to know if I should be conserned, or if anyone else has had something happen along the same lines? I also purchased the update kit. Wanted to know if there was anything new that has came out recently that I need to DL and upload to my 1.1. Thanks CZ I am happy and think it was $ well spent!

Could it of been from the engine cutting out because the car was not warmed up all the way?

GSXRSTAR, I am glad you like your CZ unit. You really should be carefull about revving your engine to 8K until it is fully warm. I think the RPM is limited to 6K when engine is cold, so whatever you experienced, is perhpas something else. What you are describing sounds like detonation, or pinging and the knock sensors detect it, retarding timing and fuel to prevent it from damaging the engine. It does feel like you hit the brake. My recommednation is to contact Maurice as soon as possible and alert him to your situation. Maurice will be in the best position to offer you the best advice.

Thanks for your advise. It has happened a few more times recently. It's not first thing in the morning though. It's after it warms up and for example I run into the store... when I come back out on my first WOT it does it... The first time it happened It was in the low 90's. I thought maybe it was just me b\c the first time I tried to reproduce it, all was good...UNTIL last week I went to take my friend for a ride and once again it was in the low to mid 90's. This time everytime I ran it hard in 1st gear I would get a HUGE loss in power from about 7800RPM to 8500RPM. Shortly after this happened ( it probably happened 10 times) it rained and cooled down a lot. Nothing after the temp. drop.... Anyway, I cut it off until I could figure out what is going on. Marice if you are reading this. Any help would be appreciated. I've been so busy with work I didn't have time to really look into it. I'll give "M" a call if I haven't heard from anyone soon.... Thanks. (btw. I didn't notice how much power the 1.1 really give you until I've had to drive without it for the last few days ....and gas milage...wow my wallet hurts....

Just a small note about 'happy w/ product'. I installed mine yesterday. If anyone has concerns about installing on their own, my wife is available to help, flat fee $75. She helped me a lot with my install. Most confusing part, after getting the clips out (one of the areas she can help with cause she has smaller hands), was the foam in the air ducts, I was thinking the cooling parts- would have been a bad mistake. At any rate, I did a couple 1/4 mile times w/ my G-tech, just on fairly flat (we have few flat roads around here) rural roads, recorded 15.19 / 15.3 on 1st/2nd runs with term speeds around 96. Don't expect anyone to remember, but on my first runs back in Aug or Sept last year I got 15.15 best at just under 92 on my first time at a track. I wasn't even planning a 1/4 mile run on the 15.19, I just kept going when trying to record a 0-60 time and didn't run out of road before I got the 1/4 mile in. For the record, I'm still on the 1st preorder , early VIN original PCM with no flashes. It idles rougher now sometimes, which is likely due to not having 'M' on my PCM yet. I'm sure more power can be had when I get the "M" flash done.

So your times were quicker before the stage 1.1 install?

well, I got my G tech meter this afternoon and decided to turn the ole' 1.1 back on to see what/if any difference it made. I didn't have enough time to get in alot of runs in. So I'm not going to give any numbers for the 1.1....Also, I had a huge loss in power again with it turned on but at different spots in the tack then before. So I'll wait until I talk to Maurice and see what he has to say before I do any runs with the 1.1 (I think it's getting to hot, OR I need to reload the newest map,OR when I took it in to have it flashed they put the hotter plugs in..I may need to remove.) Anyway, I'll have some #'s and graphs for everyone tomorrow w/o the 1.1 and have some with the CZ as soon as I talk to Maurice.
