That was the initial change in flash at the Port when the first batch of cars came over. If you tune for more HP you going to get higher temps and the CAT will last less than the 120k mazda was aiming for.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the dips at 6 - 7K is very noticeable now. I actually thought that maybe it was knocking and so fuel had to be cut off or ignition retarded or something, but after checking the logs I wasn't even at levels that I would be pinging. I know that dip was there back before I got flashed with M config.

check out the last graph on this page:

http://tyrannical.org/cz/

I lowered some points by a set number, and logged the results.

In the blue area, i lowered those by 2 points, yet at 7000 rpm, it actually went up a little. I guess things change from run to run, so I'm trying to use this as a general overview of what's going on.

These are 2nd gear pulls btw.

Strange, anytime I hit above 14.7 my car dumps fuel and really trim back the power. You can see the AFR drop to like 1 or 2. Looks like you can go beyond 14.7 and have no problems.

I loaded up the original cz map and for some odd reason, at around 7k rpm the car appears to cut the fuel and leans it so much the canscan shows the car going to 20 AFR. At that point the car has some sort of internal cut off and stops it from going any higher. So I returned to the "lumpy" map I was working on. It's possible I screwed with the original map before saving it, but I can't know unless I get a copy from someone to compare.

I also notice the rpm cutoff appears to have been removed. I can exceed 9600 rpm on the car and eventually the car shuts down to prevent higher rpms from being hit. The lights on the dash flash.

Jason, Xyntax - are we the only three that's working on the CZ. How are you guys coming?

Looks like Jason still need some work. After two weeks of tuning I am close to nailing the AFR map. My AFR is almost flat around 13.5, I'll post a screen capture of my map when I'm done.

Yeah, I'm ready to scrap my map and start with a new one. I am getting tired of doing so many high rpm runs then sitting on the side of the road for 3 mins making a graph and making map adjustments before repeating the process.

Post a screenshot of your emanage map - I'd like to try yours out, especially if it's near flat at 13.5 - that would be awesome.

If you post a link to it I would try it

Do you have a graph of how it runs on your car too?

i think it's next to impossible that a map running 13.5 on one car will run 13.5 on another...if that was the case, then the units would come tuned

epitrochoid, I understand that, but if his map is smoother than mine, it's worth trying out.

Check out the Map Sharing Thread.

Note that I modified the Throttle Column (the one in Blue) in the AFR Map. It goes 90, 88, 84, 80 75,70..... I did this because when I logged with eManage my throttle never went beyond 88% even though my CanScan says it's 100%. Someone pointed this out to the board so I incorporated that info. I also changed the RPM range since I noticed that in my car, everything below 5600 RPM was fine.

Xyntax also saw that zeroing out the low voltage setting (2.90 or 3.00) in the ignition map helps eliminate advance from creeping into the low RPM ranges. My only change was that I didn't zero out the whole row, only the first cell. Thanks Xyntax for that observation.

I started fresh with the AFR map, but use the base CZ ignition map to start. The only change I incorporated into the CZ ignition map was to eliminate the zeros in the 6000 RPM range. I put in 5's and 4's. Feels pretty good.

I've noticed mine refuses to leave closed loop control until it hits 5500 rpms no matter what the throttle position!?!? Or if it is out of closed loop, its running at 14-14.5 a/f ratio.

So I'm wiping out the stock map below that since a/f ratio's in the 14's don't need to be raised...

oh, when you adjust the advance map - are the values you put in there the actual amount it degrees it will change?

like is a "7" worth 7 degrees of actual advance?

Yup you add that advance to the advance that your CanScan measures

i'm looking at your maps and i see values of like 7 for advance... what was your car stock?

my car already is at 30 degrees from 7000 up... 37 degrees of advance would seem extremely risky with a 13.5 a/f ratio. Or am I totally wrong on that?

When I email CZ he said not to go past 38 deg advance. 95% of the ignition map is from the CZ stage 1. I hope CZ knows what he's doing :o

I should be tuning in about 2 weeks. I have the CANSCAN and tuning cable on order.
Currently mine is turned off because I am hearing noises that might be a slight ping.

I too will be working on it, but with my wedding coming up, I've just been way to busy. Hopefully once the last batch of crap is taken care of in the next couple weeks I'll start working on it.

Don't expect a mileage increase unless you drive aggressive. You lean out the fuel-air mixture at 5800 rpm and above. Personal when I cruise I don't spend much time in that region.

Below 5000 rpm the car runs in close loop and hits 14.7 almost all the time, so it's pretty lean.

I had the same gas mileage (~23 mpg) running highway before and after getting the CZ and tuning it.

Hi,

did some basic tuning on a car with CZ Stage2 map, no noticable gain yet
USB connection and E-manage software works fine and easy to use. Checked the ignitin advance (worked fine) and calibrated the throttle position. Car was driven hard (wot only) so the throttle mod Magic8 described might be neccessary to gain anything.

I keep on trying!

megauo, open map trace and watch your map as you drive, it will highlight the cells that are in use, and show you if your hitting the proper areas.
