dave, they aren't there, were they cut? or do you have an older unit?

too bad you're not local, it's only a 1 minute job to move the wire.. it's really as simple as the instructions. just heat up a solder iron, touch the wire from underneath while pulling on it till it breaks free. Put it into the new target hole, and drop some solder on it.

It looks like they were cut because the metal is twisted a bit. I think I bought a unit from GB#2 because it has a build date of August 2004....

Question about the maps...

1. Does CZ run 1 map for all gears, 1th-6th, or does it have a map for each gear?

2. Same question for the stock ECU - does it have a different map for each gear?

From what I've been reading so far, it seems that the CZ unit has 1 map for all gears, while the stock ECU has different maps for each gear. Also, I just bought the DHarrison USB CANScan unit, so if I am correct in the fact that CZ runs 1 map through all the cars, will 2nd gear give me enough data points/resolution to makes adjustments for? What about 1st gear...I could just run up and down my block about 100 times a day...great for my engine

I have read somewhere (i think racing beat) that there are differant maps. one for gears 1-4 then another for 5-6. I could be wrong.

Hey guys, I cant find any of that foam used in the instructions. Is it critical to have during the installation process?

Not critical. It's just supposed to filter the cooling airflow, which ain't much. You'll be back in there soon enough anyway. Any open cell type of foam packaging should suffice, if you can scrounge some up from somewhere...

why waste the time of converting to full scale rpm when all you really need to do on the data you record in the excel spread sheet is make another column with the rpm/2 and graph using that? no mental math needed then

because it's easier to look at the data in one format, and not canscan in one form, and cz in another. Less chance of mistakes too.

Hey.. I have another question. As we are going through the tuning process will we immediately see changes in our AFR after we upload a new map?

I am not sure if this is the case because of the learning that the ECU does, or does this aspect not apply?

From what I remember the AFR will change as your maps change. That seems to contradict what people have been saying about the benefits from the CZ module being fully realized after this learning process has been undertaken.

Well.. here is another AFR graph with my CZ installed. It has the base map that was shipped with the unit. I'll be installing the stage 2 map this weekend after I detune it slightly for safety sake....

dave, I personally don't see any reason for you to detune the stage 2 map. In fact, from what I've found, the stage 2 is still too rich. You have to keep in mind every car is different, and canzoomer's maps must be made rich enough as to not run too lean on some people's cars.

You should still be in the 12 AFR range with the stage 2 map.

Will I be able to see the results immediately after installing the map?

I was planning on using the map that you posted a while back.

haha. heck no. Anyone that creates a page dedicated to the CZ unit to help people out, and have it turn out as well as it did, thrives on answering peoples questions to the best of their knowledge.

I hope

heh. You didn't read my cz page very well The page should tell you the pass, off the top of my head i think it's ltdii

If you idle sucks, do a map trace and see what your idle ignition map is doing. Most people zero out the ignition map at idle cause it causes issues.

When looking at the Greddy graph, I understand that the columns are the rpm's, but what do the rows represent? Is that throttle position?

Yes you were right btw.. I didnt look at it close enough.. so I am hoping that this is not on your page.. haha

This is my canscan without the CZ. This is completely stock. The graph looks pretty good to me as is compared to some of the others I've seen. It says 3rd gear but it's actually 2nd.

Am I misunderstanding?
