Access Port Beta Test Chicago!!!

So I get a call from my buddy at a Subaru shop this week, "We're the best selling AP shop in the midwest, so we got some demo's for the RX8. Do you want to be a beta tester?"

I'm basically stock, so I'm very interested. I'm hoping it will lead to easier tuning when i finish payments and can finally afford FI.

They're interested in my stock car, but i think they're also interested in a few lightly / heavily modded cars in the chicago area. they need your car for a day or 2, but as I understand, the dyno tuning is free!!

If you're in the chicago area & interested in donating your car, hit me back and i'll try and pass the word along. I think we have to pay for the unit eventually, but the install will be a big savings.

Best of luck to all you tuners!

install is insanely easy... plug into the port, flash and done lol.

Too bad chicago is about 12 hours away from me by car...

Al and I have both been working to try and gather information about this. I already contacted P&LMotorsports at the request of Trey@Cobb. If there is another shop please let us know because I am almost ready to have my car tuned. I would be in the heavily modified class...

I would consider it, but I don't think they are ready for 4-ports yet.

I dropped my car off at the shop last night. I live in Central IL, so I'll pick it up & have more info for you next weekend. They are interested in working with more guys, but want to remain relatively tight lipped for the time being.

I might get a dyno chart as soon as Monday, so I'll keep in touch.

I have some information for you. P&L Motorsports is taking preorders for the RX-8 access port. Their number is 847 - 678 - 4311, or you can go to pandlmotorsports.com. If you call, ask for Ty. I've been very impressed with how these guys handled my car, and would definitely recommend them in the future.

I'll be posting my dynos + a ProTuner tune after the access port is officially released. They've estimated 2 weeks, but aren't entirely sure. That's all for now... happy modding!

Gentlemen,

FYI AP is officially released.

My buddy's shop is selling the stage 1 kit 2/ stock flash. Contact sales@pandlmotorsports.com for more details.

They're interested in setting up an Rx-8 club dyno day, where they flash and do a quick dyno tune on everyone w/ the protuner software.

I'd suspect pricing will be 750-850 tuned depending how many cars we get together.

PM me or email ty @ p&l for more details.

Hey Arrxate, you should inquire and see if your buddys shop would be interested in making these custom tuned maps avaliable for end users of the Ap, even if it calls for a fee. I'd definately would contribute!!!

They wouldn't be useful to you without the proper MAF recalibration routine.

Well, one would hope a reputable shop w/the protuner would know how to properly scale the maf to size. So the would do just as Cobb did and state in the MAp notes what calibrations were done and setup that the map is good for.

An experienced Cobb-authorized PRO tuner should be able to scale the MAP in a custom application.
At the moment, there aren't a whole lot of those for the RX-8.

P&LMotorsports is the top AP dealer in the midwest and I hear Jorge is an experienced rotary tuner. Trey@Cobb recommended them to me.
