just bought some green HID's gonna try this method , to avoid takin off the bumper, will let y'all know how it turns out

SURE TAKIN OFF THE BUMPER IS AN OPTION, But it only took me 20 minutes to do it this way, a turn or 2 of the tires for better reach, and boom done, my 8 year old could have done it. CAN'T anyone here say it is easier to take off the bumper cause that alone takes 20 minutes. FOR A QUICK EASY DIY this is the one , kick *** son!!

I can surely say that it's easier to take off the bumper. Takes me 15-20 mins to take off bumper and headlights, replace bulbs and put them back on, maybe 30 minutes if I take my time. Many people have broken their clips and/or messed up bulbs from trying to work through the wheel well. While this method works for some, I would not recommend it especially considering how easy it is to remove the front bumper and get in there and see what you are working with to make sure you get it right the first time.

Indeed, what I speculated to be a 30 minutes job turned out into 3 hours and yetI didn't accomplish to secure them tightly.
I will be removing the front bumper--and headlight assembly if necessary--to install them properly this afternoon. That's probably what I should've done in the first place.

hey guys so i just decided to swap out my headlights for some 6000k and so far ive changed out the drivers side. I have some issues tho that i would like to get some help.

I have a question about the clip holding in the bulb. The right clip snaps in snug but when i push in the left clip it seems to have clicked in behind the piece that holds it in but there seems to be some play still. Also, although my bulb cant be removed, there is still some play. is that normal?

Secondly, I noticed that when my lights are on (my driver side is now 6000k while pass side is oem) there is a half circle of light missing on the bottom of my light flood on the ground but there is no empty half circle on the pass. side. Do you know what may be the cause of this problem?

One of my HID's went out a couple weeks ago, when i went to the local pep boys they told me $120.00 for one bulb.. is that a decent price? if not what should i be looking for? and if i wanted to upgrade to say.. 6000k what would a good price for two of those be more or less?

Buy a set of the relevant color from Ebay.

You already know that the stockers die, what makes you think an OEM replacement would be more durable?

I can buy 9 bulbs from Ebay, or even upgrade to a whole kit of 55w blasters, ballasts included, for less than the cost of one stock piece.

Oh, and avoid Phillips - I've just binned my last Phillips product ever, but that's another story.

I have everything down until I get to putting the positive and negative prongs from the ballast into the other side of this --> https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...5&d=1187318881 piece. For some reason the current doesn't travel all the way to the bulbs when the wires are in, it just makes a clicking sound when i turn on the lights. Any one know what I'm doing wrong

I am looking to buy aftermarket whole headlight units. My car is an 04' so the plastic is yellowing and has some scratches. The reason I want aftermarket, is to get something that looks updated, possibly with LED or halos built in. Do you guys know any good manufacturers?

Can someone help me please. I have a 2005 rx8 and the back of my headlights (when i remove the lining) don't look like that. I don't have that lid with the warning label on it. Instead there's connecter and a plastic seal under it I can't get the connector to come out and I don't want to force it for fear of damaging it. Also in the manual it says "you cannot replace the low beam bulbs by yourself. The bulbs must be replaced at an authorized dealer." I'm a DIY person so I would rather not take it to a dealer unless absolutely necessary. If pictures are needed I'll post them.

Sounds like you have halogen low beam bulbs. Probably a 9006. Just turn it counter-clockwise, pull the bulb and remove the clip.

I just used this to replace my bulbs. Took a little longer than 30 minutes but then I removed the front tires to give me more room.
