FYI: I removed the plastic under the filter so allow cooler air to the filter..
also, did you notice your air/fuel ratio are different?? Mine went lean so I
had to richen mine.

Isn't that plastic piece also attached to the front curved plastic (the one that reinforces the bumper)?
My AFR's are pig rich after switching to the R flash last week, so I can't comment on if the intake leaned it out alittle.

I'm liking this idea except it is a pain to have to take off the front bumper everytime you want to clean the filter. Adrian, it seemed like you had a CAI setup when you put your K&N in the original filter box and extended the inlet through the front bumper as it was stock. I think I like it better that way since you can still easily get to the filter. Why change it to this?

Cold air mod update..
Although hooking up the air fuel meter hose to a breather was a great Idea.
I decided to run it from the intake tube.
1.I tapped a 7/16 " hole on the aluminum tube
2. Wrapped the a 1/4 " male air hose connector (found in the air compressor area @ your home improvement store) thread with seal tape. Then screwed it in a
the tapperd hole.
3. Polish or prime & spray paint.
4. Reinstall
I'll post a picture later.

very nice job I always thought it would be better to have the induction outside the engine bay, just never sat down to think about it, glad you did it! I will be doing this as soon as I get the turbo in :D

I'm waiting for a filter to complete mine. I used some pvc pipe that I coated with 2000 high-temp paint. It looks great under the hood, but I still dont have a filter for it....anyone know of any other filters that fit?

I have been wanting to do this for a while, but I can't decide whether to just enclose the air filter in the original stock filter box and run some flexible tubing outside the front bumper or if I should put the whole filter out there like you guys did. I just really think it would be a pain to clean that thing and it seems that the air would be the same temp either way. Why would it be cooler if the actual filter was out there instead of a flexible hose?
This thread has some picks of what I mean by running some flexible tubing out there. Either way the air is coming from outside.

I think Adrian had his inclose in the stock air box but not have a flexible tube to the outside. I think he had High air temp. I think the air temp inside the stock airbox would be a littel high because its still inside the engine.

With flexible hose would it be viable to run the filter underneath the engne bay slightly where it would be getting cooler air? I have seen some like that but getting water sucked up worries me. Would be easier to clean though.

eheheh Next I'll do a ram air to the filter :D. It won't be a as fancy as Revi.
But it should do the same job.
Also, I'll change to a round filter(size has yet to be determine) so I can rotate it around for cleaning without removing the bumper.

i'm looking at this from a cash perspective. I can get a 3" to 4" 90 degree elbow, or I can get a 3" to 3" 90 degree elbow and a 4" to 3" reducer, but both methods would cost more than just getting a proper fitting K&N filter.
I'm contacting the seller I bought from, and seeing if he'll do a return, plus if he has a filter with the proper 3" mouth.
I'll post back with my findings once I know what's going on.

Can we get any sound bytes or YouTube videos of how these projects are coming out? I'm super skeptical... I'm just glad to have this nice car. I want to mod it just so it gets its feet wet, ya know? But I dont wanna do anything to make my car turn out worse...

you should spend the money for a AEM/MS CAI or Racingbeat. If you're not up to chasing down gremlins then a homebrew mod is not the way to go. I have the MS CAI and love it.
