a couple of months ago they made a special rag specifically for cleaning plastidip that wouldnt rub it off. I think they came in a couple sizes and were around 25 bucks. just go to dipyourcar.com

I live in IL so when it snows I will let you know how the dip held up. I have stock rims but I just got a cheap center cap since I was missing one that is "polished chrome" so I can test on that?

I can't answer about polished rims. I have machined aluminum and it works great on them. About the salt, yes they salt the road to work pretty frequently in the work and I didn't notice any effect on anything plasti dipped on my car. Emblems or rims.

I am going to post pics of the stock 2004 rx8 rims plasti dipped black hopefully in the next hour. I am about to put one more coat on and then see how it looks on my car.

Let me tell you what though, go heavy on the plasti dip - because the plasti dip seemed to not want to adhere to the rims at all. I am bout to do what seems to be a 5th coat? I also did the lug nuts both black and red (for the lock nut, car is red). I was going to do the mazda emblem center cap red, we'll see how I feel about it later on. I went "light" on the plasti dip for the first two coats, waste of time - or I went "too light" i think.

Either way, they are looking good now (only doin the first two rims right now).

OK first two rims done, notes and thoughts:

Go a bit heavier on the plexi dip - just don't soak it (like you wouldn't normal spray paint) but even if you get it a bit wet, don't worry it actually drys well.

BIG IDEA: DO NOT PLEXI DIP YOUR LOCK NUT.. I did it red (as you can see in the pic, I will post pics of them on my car tomorrow) and when I went to put the lock nut on it to tighten it, the thing got stuck on it because the plexi dip added a new thickness to it and it just tore off anyways after a bit of a time with me trying to pry it off. Either way, save yourself the hassle, it doesn't work.

Overall, rims look pretty good - don't do this job at night like I did, I got too excited and did it way to late once the stuff came in.

Here is some befores, after first spray (should of sprayed on more but w/e) and then final (about 5-6 coats). I waited ~15-20 mins between each drying, 20-30 at the end and threw them on to let them dry overnight.

I ran out of upload spaces =(

* I wanted to do the Mazda emblem red, and still might with time tomorrow, though I am not sure how tape on plasti dip will do (so gotta try it on something tomorrow).

Also there is a blurry night pic of the front rim on the car.
