I did this today, took two tries but it came out good on the front emblem. I did 4 or 5 light coats and let them each dry for maybe 30 minutes. After the second coat it was covered decently, but still do not get over zealous and start spraying to much or you will get runs.

The best advice in this thread was:
  • Be patient and only do VERY light coatings, the first coating should not cover all the chrome
  • Follow the directions on the can, spray from 12+ inches away
  • Spray from directly in front of it, don't try and spray from the sides. This made the front emblem WAY easier to do

Here's a few pictures of it on a wwp car, bad lighting I know I will try and get some better ones today.

eyelids

hey guys, just had an idea for those eyelids. im a fan of the more curved eyelid shape thats out there, i thinks the ones by evo-r. im thinking if i can trace that same shape on a piece of paper and cut it out, we can get the same looking eyelids....what are you're thoughts? any idea where i might be able to find that shape/image?

just did a google search and i think i found what im looking for. im gonna try this out tonight and post pics if it doesnt rain.

This link is for whoever is contemplating a total car dip. They sell kits for about $300 for the whole car. I have wanted to do my car in matte white for some time now but havent gotten around to it. Watch some of their videos where they dip his whole Audi S4, pretty cool process.

You will find all the variety in colours at Nextmod in Woodbridge. If your just looking for black you can find it at Home Hardware.

Plastidip might but your paint wont hold up to the spinning cloth car washes, they will give you swirl marks.

I have taken my car to self serve car washes a few times and never had an issue. Just treat it as you would a sticker that was on your car.

Yes. I have taken my car many many times. As well as washed it myself. The plasti dip stays very well on the emblems. It will start to peel off headlight/tailight in about a year thou with constant washing.

Plasti Dip usually doesn't peel off the paint, I have seen people talking about clear coatings starting to peel off but not to sure - I just got 4 cans for my rims and emblems that should be here in a few days. I am doing something unique with my rims too that will make it stand out then just the typical full black.

Either way I hear it sticks well to everything, so washing the rims and things will be the same as it would sticking to the paint.

The problem with doing rims is they get dirty and you can't really scrub them or clean them very well, that is what I have heard. Maybe dirt will come off easy enough with washing but I don't know.

According to Plasti Dip creators themselves and others you wash it like you wash your car: How to Clean Plasti Dip | Plasti Dip International

After a while I will eventually take it through a car wash (touchless) and see how it turns out on the emblems and rims - I hear it wont' do anything as long as you dont have bristles scratching the hell out of it

Basically as far as I know, this is your rule of thumb - don't scratch / rip it. Though note, if it does it to the plasti dip - then it is scratch the hell (or would have) out of your paint anyways.
