I just did this and I can tell a major sound difference, especially above 4K rpm.

Did this and there is a definate difference in sound. The car also used to have a bit of hesitation or chugging in the lower rpms and this seems to have disappeared.

I did this last month, I did everything right and put a K&N Drop in filter. The bad thing about my intake is that there was OIL everywhere!!! I cleaned it all and used anti degreaser stuff, it helped alot. There is more power, but that's due to cleaning the oil, the Idle is better, and overall the car feels much smoother. My mpg went up like 2mpg, so from 240miles to a tank I get like 300miles. Awesome mod... Thanks Renesis.

The oil is because of oil blowback. This happens when you overfilled your oil or by pouring oil into your engine too fast. It might also be from taking a corner too hard though that's very rare. You can prevent oil blowback by installing an oil catch can.

I'm glad that the intake mod is working out for you and everyone else.

What really makes the difference is this in combination with all the other mods. There is a post on the 1st page of this thread which talks about doing 6 items including the addition of the RB ram-air scoop. I also have a custom tune in my wife's 4-speed automatic and after removing the baffles was the first time I actually spun tires and kick the back end out when it shifted from 1st to 2nd while going in a straight line. So, all the little alterations add up to a big difference with this simple and inexpensive mod.

i just removed the 2 flaps on the inside of my stock intake in my parking lot at work with a pocket knife and i must say i am pleased! i did this strictly so my car would quit overheating on the highway! and definatly can hear a difference and i have a lil lower idle nd its not shakey. next step better coolants and more oil!

And this will do nothing to help that. LISTEN TO YOUR CAR. It is telling you to add coolant not take apart your intake.

Just trying to help you spend your money on fixing the real problem and not on intake stuff that won't really address the issue. I've posted a couple of links in your thread that have more info.

I did the mod today. Very easy, outside of having to strong arm the airbox out of the car. I havnt had a chance to find out if my mpg has increased, but I drove about 40 miles today, everything from city, interstate, and some back roads in the country. I didnt notice any changes in throttle response, power, or sound. If my engine is breathing better, Ill be happy with that. But I'm not sure what everyone is hearing when they say it sounds like an aftermarket intake......

I dont mean to be a jackass, but I HIGHLY doubt that doing mods to your intake will give you enough HP to make the car spin tires. I have an '04 AT as well, and the 3-4 HP gain that you can get from an intake and ram is not even close to enough to make this car spin its tires. Its practically impossible to spin tires with a stock AT, so unless you have a good 25+ HP mod that you forgot to mention, I don't believe it. Like I said before, I'm really not trying to be a dick, just my opinion. And if you can do it, video please! Because I'd love to get my car to be able to spin out with that cheap of a mod lol.

Psh, it's all about the placebo effects man!

It's impossible to feel a one horse power gain... but a gain is a gain.
