Where is System Outlet for Canscan?

All of the instructions I've encountered imply that everyone knows where it is. One said is next to the hood release. It is not visible to me near the hood release. Could someone tell me how I can get to the plug with some level of detail?

From: A Pacific Island.
Arrow Under....

Under the dash.

I believe the OBDII spec calls for it to be "within 100mm of the steering column".

Wow I'm dumb. I was looking under the hood where the release latch is. Thanks for the info.

Sorry for the jack...
If I understand you correctly, the can-scan is permanent?
After you get your map the way you want it the Can-Scan can't be removed?
Forgive my ignorance......

CAN stands for "Controller Area Network" - which is just another way of saying OBDII (i think the difference is data rate is faster vs. OBD2 systems).

CAN is just a diagnostic tool to let you see how the car is behaving - you can't change any AFRs with JUST a CAN tool. with a CAN tool (Autoenginuity/ Dan Harrison's/ Hymee's Scananalyser) and software and a laptop, it'll tell you info about your car: RPM, speed, ambient air temps, catalytic converter temps, AFR, ignition timing, etc.

with the info you are logging from the car, you develop a map specific to your car and upload to a piggyback or ECU to make the actual changes to your AFR.

<shamless plug>

No such problem with the sCANalyser, it has a convient right-angled low-profile connector to keep the stuff out of the way. Perfect for leaving the cable/interface in all the time.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Or should I have said "shameless connector" hahaha.
