what's next? I need help (limited budget)

Ok, currently, i have an HKS racing suction kit, and a Borla exhaust. I dont' want to do CANZOOMER b/c i didn't tune it when i first had it and i think i got negative results. Well, my budget is around $500plus or minus..

i'm thinking i'll go with the s-afc II b/c then i dont need a laptop and i can tune right from the unit, plus it looks nice

or a midpipe... What is the difference between the midpipe and the high-flow cat? And tell me what you think is best for my car~!~!! along with links and websites for the best price...

thank you very much people!

A hi-flow cat has a catalytic converter with higher flowing properties on it. Some have resonator unit attached to it as well. A midpipe removes the catalytic convertor all together (piece of metal pipe where the catalytic should be), though some have the resonator unit on them. I had the Racing beat exhaust & Sr Motorsports hi-flow cat (w/ resonator) & I thought it was a bit loud. After I put the turbo on it, now it is better. A hi-flow cat will give you about 4-5 hp, a midpipe will give you about 6-8 (but you may run into some check engine lights as the o2 sensor will sense no catalytic, get an o2 sensor "fooler" unit). Since you have a Borla, it is already loud to begin with I would get a hi-flow cat unit with a resonator on it.

I am not a fan of the S-AFC under almost any circumstance. I consider it to be the equivalent to using a small bandaid on an amputation wound. It is overpriced and limited in what it does. To only want to use it because it doesn't require a laptop really isn't a very logical reason. To do any good tuning you really need to use the Scantool to see what effect your changes made. Your "butt dyno" is really only accurate to about a 10% change in power. Obviously this is quite a bit to guess on. You need to datalog the runs to see where you need to make the changes. Then you can go out and do another datalog to see what kind of effect your chages had. The problem you had with the Canzoomer you actually admitted to. You said you didn't tune it. You should keep this unit an actually tune it properly. You will get far and away better results with this than you will with the S-AFC. Save that piece of garbage for someone else. There are alot of people here that can help you get the Canzoomer tuned in good.

Agreed. Spend less than $200 to get the CanScan. This is by far the best place to spend your money. With it, you can get 20hp+ easily from the Canzoomer unit you already have (assuming you still have it). If you don't have a laptop, borrow one or rent it with the $ you save.

good info. borla exhaust is not too loud. i have the mazdaspeed 4pt front strut brace and full mazdaspeed suspension ready to install... i just want some more power because i want to go full n/a... so leaning towards the high flow cat. Just wondering, besides SR motorsports, are there any websites where a nice high-flow cat is selling?

lastly, i'm leaning towards the s-afc b/c a friend has a fully n/a prelude and this is the way he's going with it -a nd it's been pretty effective.

emanage or canzoomer?
