what inch outlet do i need?

Okay, so I bought a body kit and I'm starting to put it on but after paint, kit, and other daily costs, I'm a boot low on $$$. But I still need a exhaust system.

I love the deep sound of borla's exhaust but I don't have 1000 dollars lying around.

I'm planning on making my own custom exhaust but what inch muffler do I need to get close to the same sound of brola?

Thanks for tha help

You can remove the mid pipe with the cat converter and replace it with a resonator pipe. This will increase the sound output and may give a bit more power.

Weld some 3.5" or 4" tips on your stock muffler.

^ I always think in terms of preserving the cat for emissions testing; I guess it depends on the local laws

/\ The suggestion was to spend $ on a midpipe that wouldn't have a cat anyway ........

Nothing on the RX-8 exhaust is cheap. If it is then it won't last. Think about a used one.
Place a WTB ad on this site for a Cat back system and a mid pipe. A good cat back should be $350 used and a mid pipe should be under $200.

Be wary of cheap mufflers. The packing will just melt. Even flowmaster says not to use their mufflers in a rotary application.

If you're going for the two muffler/two tip look, you can "y" the exhaust off into two 2.5" mufflers and be fine. The stock exhaust is 2.5" to start with. If you're on a small budget, a diy exhaust will break it if you use high quality mufflers and pipe. As said before, check for used name brand systems.

Even though I did and it has been a great muffler for 12 months now the 44 can handle the heat just fine it was built for big blocks to run the 1/4 thats a lot of heat
