just bumping this thread because interested to know if you still have your system Joe ?

Has anyone else tried it ?

Yes I have read the thread & those in thew know say it wont add power . What interests me is that the renessis can feel quite sluggish on hot days -perhaps this could be a solution to that ?

Water injection is not designed for naturally aspirated cars. Only forced induction. Even on those cars if the only thing you change is the addition of water injection, your power goes down. Since it is a knock suppresant (that's it's intended use) it does allow you to run more boost and hence get more power than you normally could have using the same fuel without WI. It gives you the ability to run more boost. It is not a benefit to an n/a car.

OK - I can see than for most situations it is not going to help (on a stock tune power wise ).
How about if you used it in conjunction with an aftermarket EMS for use only on hot days ????? I am finding huge variations in performance with this car in different conditions . I really think this could help say above 7000rpm on 25 deg C + days . Who knows for sure that it won't ?

well, I don't know if the water used is distilled... Most probably is because that's the cleanest. But if it is, then wouldn't you be steam cleaning your engine?

Contemplating, but not as much as these guys. Looking to cool the charge, car seems to really like cold damp air. The poor boy setup would be to run a relay with the VAFD signal to turn on a pump leading to a couple of spray heads before the air box. The tank will go where the air pump is today.

Basically, when you hit VAFD RPM, it is suddenly nice cool, humid morning. I am working on how to make the flow build and go slowly so that there is not a temperature spike.

Also, waiting on a bunch of other stuff, like time.

Really think about this guys. You want clean cool air, not wet air.

You don't want humid air, but wet isn't necessarily bad. Regardless, there is a use for water/meth on an n/a RX-8 that could have some clear benefit, I think. There are apparently ranges were the a/f mixture is richened to keep detonation and temperatures (cat and/or egt) under control. If one could determine these ranges and cause water/meth injection to come on appropriately, the mixture could be backed off somewhat. This should improve our crappy mpg's somewhat.
