so, let me get this straight, a piggyback is a program that rinds on top of the ECU program, fooling whatever senors it needs to. and a stand alone is basical a laptop program(like fast and the furious), this let's you do whatever you what to the fuel mangement, but you also have to wire all the other programs(ABS, gauges, etc.)through it , too. doesn't sounds so bad, whats the catch. Also, is their a way to disable the ECU's fuel mangement sudroutine. That will save place on the laptop for say, solitare

Also, this was asked elsewhere but was never answered (70% sure, sorry if its a repost), I like centrifugal superchargers myself. the e112 was just an example. but anyway, can the pulley be changed to a smaller one to give power at a lower rpm. My first thought would be no, because when you got up high on the rpm's, it would start sucking vacuum. but maybe I'm wrong, or if I'm not, maybe a cultch system or gear shifter (like a bike shifter) could be worked out, anyway just brainstormin'

correct me if i'm wrong but wouldn't it make a lot of sense for a car with a lackluster low end and mid end torque?

i'm questioning why wouldn't it be a good idea since the 8 is a car that needs instaneous boost which is typically supplied by a positive displacement type sc.

btw rotarygod did a real good write up on centrifugal chargers in comparison to roots type

Navy: You mentioned centrifugal as your preference but then named the Eaton M112 as your blower of choice. The Eaton is a positive displacement not a centrifugal supercharger. Paxton, Vortec, etc are centrifugals. You actually prefer positive displacement. If you like the Eaton M112, you should really look at the Whipple A1200.

RG, I never said the M112 was my blower of choice. It was only a example. I like using them, they are a very soild blower. Does using a centrifugals change things or not?

Oops, sorry. Misinterpreted you on that one. They were in the same sentence.

A centrifugal doesn't change anything from the standpoint that you can adapt one to work on the car. As far as boost rise is concerned yes it does change things but you already know that.

"proper amount of ECU control" eh? Someone make good friends with a JDM tuner and figure out how they are rewriting the ECU. RB is doing the same thing... so there is most definitely a way... just how to get access to the necessary equipment.

I think the Ric Shaw ecu does have the proper amount of control. The eManage is nice but it doesn't do timing the way I want it to.

Top secret info for mere mortals like me. RG...are you talking about timing spread?

OK this turned out to be a not so very simple question about superchargers after all. I do know this. Lets give it time and money. Look at it this way guys. I had a 00 3G Eclipse. When I get my car used it was 02 and there was no SC/Turb out. Till one man made it all happen in late 02.
So it was a good 3 years later that the **** box get to see the light of a SC/Turb that is available in a complet kit by a good company that backs its product from NJ. When I got the car I was thinking, oh man I will need to Turb it out and play the trial and earror with tunning. But with this kit saved time and the odds of you blowing you 4 or 6 banger up. Just plug and play. Or should I say pay. I think in no time we will see something like this. It will take a person(s) with a shop and the time/money just like www.rippmods.com

"Take a look at the alternative, the RIPP SDS-4G64 has had zero engine failures* to date. From it’s inception in 2002, no other forced induction system available can compete with the power and reliability we lay claim too… NONE!*"

I hope one day we can hear this too.

And they would be???

The supercharger ain't got no idea about what RPM the motor is doing!

Hymee.

There's a supercharger kit for the 5SFE? Talk about desparation .

I think most of the engine tuners have been doing a lot of trial and error, or to a greater extent, R&D through simulation.

It's either Ripp has done their homework, or they have a big pair . It is nice to see there are companies making superchargers for otherwise pedestrian cars.

rotarygod, I just saw Ric Shaw's piggback computer. It appears to be a real winner, but I won't know until I get one, or someone here tests one. Does anyone know if the Ric Shaw piggyback computer has a MAP input?

Na Ripp did their homework on Dodge Strats first. Ripp has fixed up a nice RX-7, But I dont know if thats still up on his stie or not. I wounder what he can do to an 8. He told me he dont like working on Rotaty engin's. I dont know why?.

I have one of RIC's TSI units. Yes, it has a MAP input.

Cheers,
Hymee.

My partner in crime LOVES working on Rotaries. After all tuning a world record 201.5 MPH must be pretty satisfying

We are planning our superchared stuff at the moment. We will be testing on a Renesis engine on the engine dyno before anything goes on the car. And through this forum I can keep all the punters up to date with pics and progress etc. Just remember, Rome wasn't built in a day.

Now there is a thinly veiled anouncement of sorts.

Cheers,
Hymee.
