A rebuilt greddy will set you back a grand. I havent tuned mine yet but Brettus loves his. The Garrett is a little more, but you get alot more. I paid $1.8k but have not gotten delivery yet (expected.) The price now is more. I think it is somewhere close to $2.2k. Look on mazdamaniac.com. He did mention that he might stop building these.

why don't you buy teh upgrades that in then future will be used in the turbo applications. for example: exhaust, coils, radiators, .....something like that..and you can't buy it one time for everything because you will feel the deep pocket. that's why people in this forum, it takes at least 2 months for them to gather everything, so they can pay attention on parts they need and they can buy them one by one. taking time is important in building turbo application in RX8. just my experience.
