This is really no different than people installing overly large throttlebodies. One the tb flows all the air the engine can ingest, going larger does nothing for power. It does give this same effect though.

I know the OP says that people criticize it without knowing exactly what it does. That's a laugh. The real wording should be "people buy it because they don't know what it does".
