Hey guys, I was planning on getting the Tanabe NF springs coming up, but i remember reading some where that if you just get springs and not shock and everything else it can really mess up ur car. I was just wondering if this is true, or will I be fine with just the springs.

your struts may wear out faster due to the change in spring rate and dropped spring...but there is no rule that you have to change your struts at the same time....just a recommendation.

ok got a little more information.
Kwescott and myself (Thanks Kwescott) took the Sprints out of my car (well 2 of them) just to test the rates. Same testing as the stock springs and the Mazdaspeed springs.
Here is what I got:

no I dea now.....
Leaning twords keeping them in since at least they look cool. the only spring right now I am considering is the Tein S tech. I just wish I knew someone that had them NOT instaleld so I could test them first.

Called Petit.... they do not know the spring rates of their custom order Eibachs. they also mentioned that they dont really deal with Eibach any more.

I'm starting to think that Springs (within our price range anyways) are just for looks (ride height). It looks like you have to have some good money to throw at suspension to truely get something in the range that we are looking for.

but yeah, they are all pretty much for looks. I mean minor ride differances. but for what I want I need coilovers considering I am wanting to double the spring rate.... or more.

my fiend wants to sell me a new set of megans for under $900 total. they are 12kg/672lb front and 10kg/560lb rear (you can get 10/8 but its extra $$). the shocks are made by apexi and are monotube 32 way adjustable. the rears still have to be taken off to be adjusted from what i could tell but there are extender cables that you can get from megan that allows you to adjust them from your trunk. the fronts use pollowball mounts but ive driven a car with these and i couldnt tell the difference. they felt good though. much better dampening then the tein basics.
however, they didnt feel that much better then my voughtland/ koni combo. better yes, but not good enough for me to make the switch. i dont really need height adjustability (suposedly 2 way adjustable but not really... the top adjuster is for preload). the quality seemed decent. the springs had some scratched but that was about it. i dont like how the rear shocks bolt up to the car but its more solid then i give them credit for.
if you want them, ill tell him to give you the set instead of me. i gotta leave my car as is until after the academy.

Guess there is room for making offers then. Casey, offer him 750 for the set and see if he takes them. You could probably make most of that back by selling the Sprints and Konis...if you end up liking them enough to keep them....or you could sell them on the RX8 site and just keep your Sprints/Konis. I'm sure you could unload them for 750.

no... unfortunatly, i was the one that picked them up from the warehouse. it may have happened during shipping. food for thought, my vougtlands had paint chipped off the springs when i got them as well.

yeah I have the AP.....I kwo it's low but Phoenix is pretty level for the most part. I was going to get the Veilside lip but I'll wait to see how low I go.
MM's car is SUPER low with the Tokico D-specs and AutoEXE springs- he tucks the rear tires, and runs the MS kit....I wonder if I'll be lower than him....
Speeddemon: I will post pics once they on in a week or so. I'm waiting for my GT Factory vertical door kit to be installed and then I'll take one giant photoshoot

Awsome. I look fowrard to seeing it. I am sure you will be lower. I have yet to see a sprint that is as low as the Sprints. (not talking about coil overs, or someone that cut their springs)
I love my sprints (well the way they look at least) I dont think I would want to go any lower though. I have a hard time getting in and out of places. I get stuck often. I sure as hell would not want any thing hanging off the front of the car as it would get destroyed.
also there comes a point when you get tooooo low. then it just looks like your on bags, or you just cut the springs to dump it. I think the sprints are the "perfect" drop. very agressive, but not stupid looking.
