LOL... D&D makes great exhausts for motorcycles (http://www.danddexhaust.com/) ....had bikes on the brain... I meant B&B

My GSX-R was 120whp (when I was done with it) and weighed in at 320lbs.... now you do the math.. but to get an Rx-8 to "feel like a bike" I would have to get that betty up to about 780whp... lol .... I hear that whole bike vs. car thing and it always cracks me up... my bike did 0-60 in just over 3 seconds and could take a 25mph hairpin at about 100mph without scraping pegs (that's why a 600 can beat a 1000 with a good rider... it's all about weight in the corners) . When you talk to riders about their "comfortable speeds" it's usually speed limit x 2 plus whatever... so like a guy who says +20 will be talking about doubling the speed limit then adding 20kph to that, and that is where he starts to get nervous about losing it in the corners.... You will find very few drivers of cars who will talk about going 140 in a 60, and being comfortable taking a corner.

The whole Bike Vs. Cars discussion isn't really a discussion at all to guys who have raced bikes.... if a car could go as fast as a bike you would put it into the wall on every turn. I have done a 1.5 hour drive by car, in about 45 minutes with a pack of bikes averaging speeds of about 150kph and hitting top speeds of 220kph (if you go fast between vancouver and whistler, it takes about 1.5 hours in a car, to avoid running yourself off a cliff, 2 hours 15 minutes if you obey speed limits). The reason all but 1 or 2 (street legal) cars in the world can't beat a 600cc bike in a straight 1/4, is a simple horsepower to weight ratio.... throw in any turns at all, and NO car has a shot in hell EVER . You against a bike. want to talk torque? a sport bike revs to almost 20,000RPM... if you havn't been on a bike with the needle pegged, or tried to hold on to an R1 with your hand cranked, you have never felt real torque.... on an R1 you just lean forward and hang the hell on. (Damn... i miss my bike even more now.. lol).

anyway, I have been thinking about the Turbo, but I just don't know if it's worth losing my warrenty. No matter what I do, the "go" part will never make up for not having the bike, I was thinking more about exterior mods, and simple NA performance, just for throttle response. But I am still debating the GReddy turbo.

Yeah, the warranty thing is a big concern (not for me anymore). The turbo will definitely void it. If you want to stay NA you can basically do the Canzoomer piggyback ECU (they are in Canada too, & tune it), midpipe/testpipe (or hi-flow cat.), exhaust & Racing Beat air intake. Probably get you to around 200-low 200's whp. Down the porting would help. About it for NA mods. Pullies are useless. If you want to rev even faster, a lightened flywheel.

The Veilside bodykit is one of the nicest I have ever seen, and the front grille opening fits the Greddy front mount intercooler perfectly (see Shawn's car).

Good luck.

Would you guys be willing to accept the argument that the RX-8 is the 600cc motorcycle of the car world? Or maybe a Lotus Elise is a little closer to the point. You shoulda seen the cars that were getting passed on the track by our RX-8's when I went to Atlanta. Besides, as y'all have stated, there is no comparison between bikes and cars. However, life would seem more complete to have an RX-8 sitting beside your favorite bike, wouldn't it?

Yeah, that's sort of what I was getting at earlier. The Rx-8 handling is awesome (compared to other cars), it's a lot quicker than people give it credit for (the more horsepower 350z feels like an F150 pickup driving in mud compared to the RX-8). I would say it's fair to call it the "600cc of the sports car world". By definition a 600cc sport bike yields you less acceleration but makes up for it big time in the curves and general quickness in handling.

The 8 makes up for slightly less horsepower through throttle response, high rev, quick responsive handling, interior comfort, inspired design, and cornering like it's on rails. It's got a nice smooth power band that is predictable in every gear (unlike those crappy V-Tec engines that give you crap until the cams swap and then suddenly you have a 50 hp boost in power). Its the closest thing to a bike on 4 weels...
