Thanks Mazurfer, If it is honeycomb in the cat, is it as simple as just taking it out? or is that a problem I'll have to go to the dealer for?

I'll clean the MAF today and check for vacuum leaks. As for the loss of power, I dont know. I didnt drive the poor thing, the idling was too rough, and seemed on the verge of cutting off.

CAT is under warranty for 8 years 80k miles if that applies?

Depends on where you live as to whether or not you could just knock all the honeycomb out or not and get away with it. If Emissions testing in your state/locale then "no".

Some people take the CAT out and just run with a mid-pipe, but the same emissions issue exists here.
This will also generate a CEL and you won't be able to mask it without getting a Cobb Access Port.

Well im at 70000 miles so hopefully if there is a problem with the cat, im covered, as for the car, i cleaned the MAF today with MAF sensor cleaner and checked for vacuum leaks, everything looks good. Started her up, rough idling still and rattling below. feels like a big loss of HP as well.. :-/ waiting on coils and spark plug wires in the mail. Im still shooting code p0506.

Haha, thread bump.
I just bought an 04 RX8 with 33k original miles. AND
to my huge suprise I found Nology wires while changing the the sparks.

Question is could I run regular ngk iridium sparks with these pos wires?

Screw just getting wires. Upgrade to a full ignition kit, BHR ignition kit. Ya it is more money, ruffly 400 dollars but way worth the boost in engine reliability and age. Will also help greatly with misfires. They will become like the dinosaurs.....extinct!

Mazdatrix, can't go wrong with Mazdatrix. They are pretty inexpensive as well, and colorful?

The wires, NO. The BHR ignition kit uses custom made wires. The connection to the coil end is different.

I have a set of wires that will mate with the BHR ignition for sale if you need.

My engine light came on and I get codes p0302 and p0455. If I buy new spark plugs and wires will that solve my issue? Also for some reason my acceleration is not strong could that be related to spark plugs as well?
