Perhaps so, but that's the old K&N Typhoon. K&N has a brand new intake for the RX-8 with a carbon fibre heat shield. They're running adds in car mags saying 10 hp on the RX-8, guaranteed! But the July Import Tuner did a test with the new K&N intake and also the RB exhaust, the results were marginal. If I recall correctly, around 3 or 4 hp for the K&N intake and only around 1.5 hp for the RB exhaust. The RB exhaust also weighs 10 lbs more than stock, so it's really a wash. The look and sound is what one is mostly paying for.

I went with the Revi and I just added the ram air today. I would go with the intake for three reasons.

1 you can get a decent sound.
2 I saw an increase of 2 mpg with the intake others are seeing increases as well.
3 the car feels more responsive.

Interesting...that's exactly what I experienced when I installed the HKS Legamax. Seems it doesn't really matter which you choose to do first....intake or exhaust, but ultimately the right combo of both is the best solution. As soon as the HKS Racing Suction arrives at my local garage, I'm getting it to complete the package
