Yes it does - just not as hot as with the water on it .

The TB is only joined to the rest of the engine through plastic components. Plastic is a poor conductor of heat, so at least its not bolted directly to the block. Personally, I don't think the intake charge will be much cooler at all from the bypass mod. The air is traveling so fast past the TB that there isn't much time for heat transfer to take place.

BTW: Unless you have a special temp sensor installed, you won't be able to log the temp change. The MAF is before the TB and that's where the CAN gets the temp readings.

I am with madDog in that it won't make much of a change. I did find this website that may help you calculate the effect. I am not smart enough to know.

Here's a good way to think about it. How much surface area do you think there is in an intercooler? I'll bet there's close to 20-30 square feet of surface area in all those little passageways. You need that kind of surface area to really transfer heat when the air is moving so fast. Now, how much area is exposed in the TB? I'll bet less than 1 square foot.

since no one answer me how does it help on giving more HP.

so heres my second question, Don't the air pass throught the intake can cool down the coolant pass through it? since the coolant heat up the intake.

They did answer you ...... to put it more simply - hot air is less dense therefore less air mass is drawn into the engine therefore less power is made .
2nd question - yes , a little , why is that relevant ?

LOL, it's another one of those pointless 1 hp mods, the sky must be falling for sure

it's really no different than dropping one screen out of the OE intake, both have been proven to generally not have any negative affect on the vehicle's operation

You say PROVEN as if your expirence means it applies to all cars, which it doesn't.

I have it and believe it works. When it was 105 degrees outside temperture and tracking I actually could out pull a few heat soaked turbo's on the track.

Boy were they surprised. So was I !

8 HP is bull, but a 1 to 2 hp gain or not losing 5hp in hot weather due to heat soak is good.

No, I say proven as specifically in the RX-8.

plenty of people are running one intake screen without issue, plenty of people are bypassing the TB coolant passage without issue

I have never made any claim about any benefit on either one, just that they have been done and without any noted negative consequences. Can we drop the peepee match now?

This mod wont give you any more hp. Your hot engine may not loose as much hp when hot.

Now the Turonator is a different story. I've got 40whp!!!

Pulleys work fairly well for the price I guess but only true dyno testing would confirm.

Exhausts and intakes vary by brand, etc. but should be the last mods you do due to the low HP per dollar ratio. Most of the 8's with basic bolt-ons are no faster than their stock counterparts. Now a good filter and a good exhaust system are almost a must for the FI gusy if they want to acheive optimum boost and HP.

Learning how to drive properly will get you better results than the typical I/H/E.
after you edit. sure you do..

I dare to say that most who run synthetic still change their oil at 2k or 3k intervals. It has nothing to do with extending oil changes. You've got a lot of reading to do if you think that's the only difference between them.

ok so if it cooldown the coolant, isn't it a good thing to avoid detonation?

I think the value of this mod is in not doing it. While doing this mod may reduce the temperature of the incoming air by .01 degrees, by not doing this mod you will save at least 10 minutes and somewhere between 3 to 5 dollars.
