Looks like just the tips to me? And it says you either need their kit, or you have to cut into your bumber... be careful man sounds like a mish!

If you have a 2009+, Racing Beat offers this exhaust with twin tips.

That's probably why you don't see too many, unless you have an abflug rear. The problem with this, is that the body kit is just fugly(go on their site and see what I mean). The only thing they got right was the rear IMO. If you get the rear bumper than you have to get this exhaust, (kind of like some of the others). I do like the whole thing from the rear with maybe some INGS+1 sides and an Auto Bahn Sports front, but that would set you back upwards of 4 grand. So yeah anything can be done, but at a price.

totally agreed, i was going to go with the abflug rear bumper/exhaust and different sides and front but the cost/value is really not there. the diffuser/exhaust section is sick but its really extreme looking and youll need to find something pretty aggressive to match. the abflug sides and front are just terrible unfortunately.

So i'm buying a car that already has a ExoticSpeed RII-Titanium cat back. I'm trying to decide if i want to get rid of it and try something else because i'm afraid it will be too loud. I prefer a low volume setup.
Does anyone have any idea how it compares in volume to Racing Beat, Borla, or Greddy SP2?
Will i draw attention from the cops with the Exoticspeed setup?
Anyone have the ExoxticSpeed RII- Titanium with BHR midpipe and how do you like it?

Further to my PM, does the car have a catless mid-pipe? I still have the OEM catalytic converter which makes me quite a bit quieter. If it does have an aftermarket mid-pipe, it's likely the ExoticSpeed one. You should ask L337fpc about the full ES setup. I hear it's quite a bit louder.

If someone has the BHR midpipe with the ES RII-T, I'd be interested to hear about it.

Hi everyone and thanks before hand for any help... just picked up an 8 last month or so... been on the lookout for a nice exhaust system that helps me achieve certain goals...

1. WHP or HP for that matter
2. Minor Drone
3. Deep but not raspy exhaust tone.

1.Got in my mind the Single HKS in particular i like the single sound and look the better dont know about the performance side been looking and have found nothing (dyno sheets)
2. AP
3.RB
How would you rate them in your experience

Please if you guys have any other comments i would like to hear them ... thanks

Hey, I have a R Magic single exhaust from cat back on mine.

http://www.rmagic.net/parts/muffler/se3p.html

Gives a good deep rumble at idle, minimal drone when under load. However, quite loud from a heavy foot.

Here's a comparison I found to be useful: http://www.mazda-rx8-discussions.info/en/DptpdEi

Cheers,
kp

Hey guys...

I am also looking to add a new cat-back to my 04 6MT
Have read the 30 pages here, and elsewhere, and listened to various YT clips with the so-so audio quality.

I'm looking for a bit more growl at idle/low RPM, without being terribly obnoxious (I park in a garage with a bunch of fairly conservative management types, and live on a pretty quiet street). Don't want to make the neighbors, my wife, or my boss (!) learn to hate my car.

I'd like to hear a more agressive sound when I get on it.
Avoid drone at constant highway speeds.

not expecting any HP improvement (having read thru the forum!), just change the tone somewhat.

Would frankly prefer NOT to get the backfire gear change, but perhaps that's inevitable?

My impressions are that Mazdaspeed is the "quietest", with Racing Beat a tad more aggressive, with other aftermarket exhausts increasing in volume/aggressiveness from there. From the YT clips I hear, Borla seems to have a nice lower-sounding note to it.

Any suggestions or comments? Maybe some of you have had a chance to hear all these (and other) various options in person, vs a sound clip?

Thanks in advance!

Nice vid!

Great to have an area where the wind does not interfere with the audio in device...

I'm bored and want to "refresh" my 2004 by changing something a little. I was thinking a different exhaust tone might make it seem "new" again.

BUT, I'm 48 and work as a professional in an office, so while I want "different," I don't want loud or teenage-tuner sounding. Deeper, slightly louder if it has to be, but nothing that embarasses me when pulling out of a parking lot.

After reading all 30 pages here lol, I'm thinking:

1) Mazdaspeed dual cannister
2) Racing Beat

Which of those is the quietest?

And yes, I've listened to YouTube clips and like the sound, but it's difficult to tell how loud they are compared to stock.

I take it either of those will "pop" though when letting off the gas? What's up with that, is it dual-cannister ones that do it? I'm wondering why the stock muffler doesn't pop...

The pop you hear is unburned fuel igniting due to heat that's built up in the exhaust. Also of note is that the stock exhaust will pop with the cat still installed, it just takes a lot of revving.
To add my 2c, the ExoticSpeed that I have is amazing. But, it might be a tad loud for you. It certainly surprised me the first time I fired it up. The two cat-backs you are considering are supposed to be "quiet". The thing to remember: ALL aftermarket exhausts will be louder than stock.

I have the exoticspeed r2 Titan and that thing is loud when you press on it but pretty reasonable at idle and lower rpm's. I've caught my dad sneaking joy rides in occasionally and he's 60.
Your best bet would probably be the Racing Beat. That's just my opinion. The Borla and magnaflow are deep toned.

That's the problem lol. I love the way the 8 sounds when you're alone and enjoying a curvy road. But what sometimes embarasses me is that I can't just quietly get up to speed when going stoplight-to-stoplight in traffic without sounding like I'm racing everyone, lol. I wish there was an exhaust that quieted things down more at low revs (or maybe just made it deeper, less shrill), but still sounded great at high revs.

Has anyone ever tried that single-cannister MazdaSpeed one? The descriptions says "preserves OEM sound," but I have to believe it changes something... otherwise what's the point?

Have a R Magic single on my 8 from cat back.

At idle slight increase in sound - deep rumble, doesn't drone.
At high revs - loud, as to be expected.
At 100kms/h, little to no increase in sound.

hi all.

very useful thread although found a few difficulties finding some of those brands here in the uk,

i went for a COBRA cat back exhaust, cost £335 including shipping, i found it just by googling cobra exhausts and came across it

i made a video comparing my old and new exhaust, as you can see nice deep rumble with a few 'pops' thrown in for fun hehe

im well impressed with this exhaust overal and would very much recommend it to anyone in the uk looking for a new one

Perhaps a new intake is more your style? The AEM is almost exactly what you're after. It's basically stock sounding until you mash it. Then it sounds a lot deeper and more exciting.

Alternately, keep the stock cat-back and get a new midpipe. Look for RIWWP's vids in the BHR midpipe thread.

I'm trying to decide on a cutback exhaust..... I'm currently trying to find a Greddy SE but of the at least 15 people I've contacted they're out of stock, and it's discontinued.

So here's what I'm looking for(in order of preference):
1) Burnt blue tips. They look fantastic.
2) I want a lower note in the low revs.
3) No drone.
4) Overall slightly louder than stock, although WOT it can scream.

I'm hoping more so for a list of possible options I can go research.... I've looked into the agency power and exotic speed (with OEM cat) but I'm concerned they'll still be too loud, and drone.
