I'm thinking around 1 mpg so far. I know it's a bad way to gauge, but my 3/4 mark used to come on around 175 miles and now I'm clearing 200. This is mostly city, very little highway, all spirited driving! :D No granny panties in my car. :p

Thanks for the post...one day in the distant future I hope to enjoy modding the 8. Off topic, but does RB make a high flow cat? I'd check myself but I'm at work and all sorts of strange "do not go there" pop-ups are happening lately.
I know RP makes a high flow cat that gives about 8HP but I was wondering if RB has made or is going to make a high flow cat/midpipe???

So I just installed the REVi tonight with a friend, and I can't get the smile off my face. It's my first and only mod on the car right now and lemme tell you, it was probably the greatest first mod I could have done IMO. It sounds so great, like a deeper growl above 5.5k all the way to redline, and that's only when you want it speak up by really pressing the throttle. Better throttle response as well. No more VFAD crap hah!

i have to agree with most of this. did mine on thur. whoever estamated 1.5hrs was smoking crack. took me 3 hrs, but i have never removed the bumper before.
my notes are i think it pulls harder, o wait it does i have a gtimer now and can waste gas proving it.
sound it sounds like the first rx7 i drove back in 79 it has that rotory sound.
gas mileage, to early to tell, but the last tank i got the worst gas mileage ever, new gtimer. 18.3mpg. ~10 1/4mile runs on that tank.
so far i have run the car a little with the revi. and it looks like running it somewhat hard i am getting the same mileage as cruising down the interstate. bonus.
beers

First time removing the bumper for me last night. Took me and my friend an hour and 45 minutes. That includes having some screws roll away and having to look for them haha. Did you do it by yourself? If you do it with someone, it goes faster.

Yeah~ I installed mine just yesterday... took me 3 hours, but I am an extremely cautious worker (don't want to damage ANYTHING at all). Luckily, everything came out fine and I am loving this intake! Now to get an exhaust...

Did it myself, and took me 2 hours. Removing the bumper is easy, if you just hold the center while you unlatch each sides. If I was going to do this all again with someone else's car, I know I could do it in 45 minutes or less.

If we can remove the but dyno effect, then it might be an idea if someone actually dyno the 8 and then change the intake and dyno again(same day etc, just about 2 hours apart for installation) and with a big fan on both test runs, to try and get the same environment,as well as engine temp the same.It wouldn't be exactly the same as on the road but at least we will know that we do not loose any power, only gain
just for a test, a big job however.

FROM RACING BEAT:
What are the performance gains over the stock system?
A significant portion of the development and research that we have been conducting with the Mazda Renesis engine during the initial 1-2 years was under contract with Mazda USA. The resulting data obtained from this development and testing is proprietary to Mazda USA.
Regarding the Racing Beat REVi Intake Kit, we are faced with a conflict of interest issue if we publish the test data results of the Racing Beat intake, while using the same proprietary test data that was obtained on behalf of our client, Mazda USA, as a baseline comparison of a stock Renesis engine.
For this reason, we will currently list REVi Intake Kit performance increases as an average percentage increase over stock, peak horsepower gains over stock, and maximum horsepower gains over stock. This reporting format is similar to the data format that was released with our REV8 Exhaust System.
Our test results are as follows:
Stock vs Racing Beat
REVi Intake Adds An Average 1.95 HP Over The Stock System - 2000-8900 RPM Range
Peak RPM Gains Over Stock - 3.5 HP @ 8300 RPM
Maximum Power Gain Over Stock - 5.8 HP @ 8900 RPM
Test engine - Stock Renesis engine using: Racing Beat Ultra Ignition wires, Royal Purple Racing 41 Oil, and the knock sensor unbolted.
Knock Sensor - The reason for unbolting the knock sensor is that our testing has shown that the ECU sometimes randomly retards the ignition even when there is no actual detonation occurring. (Detonation - pre-ignition combustion of the compressed intake charge.) The difference is only 1-2 HP, but this is more than the differences we are looking for. We obtain more consistent test results by unbolting the sensor (but leaving it connected electronically so that it doesn't cause a fault in the ECU), thereby preventing it from feeling the vibration it mistakenly thought was detonation.
END OF RACING BEAT QUOTE
So basically you are looking at a gain of 3.5HP peak.

The runs were done same day, same car, same dyno at XS Engineering in Huntington Beach. REVi install was done by the Racing Beat's Jim Mederer after thoroughly checking over my car to make sure she was in good shape. Before REVi install, she was a bone stock early-build (June 2003) '04 6MT.
Run 004 was the stock car. Run 009 was with the REVi. They did some other runs for research purposes, with some piggyback ECUs, exhaust, etc. They returned the car to me with a brand new REVi, a set of their oil cooler screens, and a full tank of gas. Quite a deal for me! Thanks, Jim and Jim and everyone at Racing Beat!

Thanks for the info, now i know that it is a good idea,....you lucky man.now I want one but must buy it.but I am glad for the feedback as when I buy I must import to us here in S.A. and need to know that what we will get is what we want, or what we expect.(we will most propably a few guys buy together)
Thanks guys !
I think the faster you go,speed wise, the more the force, and more important cool air that is forced in, will make a differance in the Hp readings.
