Reflash

I have been hearing a lot about having the computer reflashed. I have only seen one place that does this and I obviously need to trust sending this out and receiving back in good condition. What kind of results can I expect to see out of this mod and should it be my first??
Any help appreciated

I know it's fun creating new threads but doing a search first will result in not having to strap on your flamesuit

Thanks
I have been to RB. I have yet to find anyone that can tell me if they have had this done and is it worth it. I realize I am a newbie and need to research I guess I thought asking questions in forums like these would be part of the procedure. I have read in here never to trust a manufacturer/vendor so I thought checking with you guys would be a good step.
I am 31 and really get no excitement out of posting threads other than to learn all I can. I am a proud new owner of a great car in the 8 and am just trying to catch up the quickest way I can. I am not trying to fight back but I challenge anyone with a full time job, wife, and 3 year old to find the time to research every mod available in the first week of ownership. I deserve some crap for asking questions you guys are sick of, agreed, but arent we all here to share and learn....and maybe brag a bit....gloat a bit.

hahaha...

okay, well don't let what others say get you down... For starters from what I remember, what the RB ecu does is raise the redline too 9300, keep both coolant fans on, and something else I forgot about... Mostly I forgot about it because I don't really care...

I'd save my pennies for the Accessport... It's not out yet, but something gives me the feeling that it's going too be my best experience with an aftermarket ECU... You get a handheld ecu controller, and even though I plan on using a left over laptop turning it into a permanent carputer, it will still be even more convenient too just carry that handheld ecu controller in case autocrossing occurs at some random point and I need too bail on a 15-inch screen...

So get all those over NA things you can get done first... Flywheel being the best of them...

It just shows how lazy you are, you dont even need to search for anything, a quick *control-F* on the previous screen, AKA Aftermarket Performance Modifications , look for *Racing Beat*.

my god people. SEARCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All your questions has been ANSWERED like 10 thousand times.

The Access Port won't come with the hand held controller with the RX8, according to some people "in the know" about it. You'll have to have a laptop with the Access Port. And that's what I'm saving for, too. I already got my computer, screen, and Scanalyser software situation figured out so I'm all ready for it once it comes out.

And a few words about the RB flash- it doesn't do much. It does raise your redline, but the Renesis stops making power at 8600 rpm anyways. The only benifit is you can hang onto a gear for a little longer, and wen you shift it will put you closer to your peak tq/hp for the next gear. The best feature is the cooling fan modification to keep the engine running cooler. For $400 it doesn't do much and you can't tune it, and if you take the car into the dealer and they reflash your ECM you loose it

The RB Flash is absolutely worth it. Had it done twice (i allowed my PCM to be reflashed by Mazda on purpose) and i couldnt be happier with the performance for the dollar. The car clearly pulls better and does so well past where it used to drop off in power. The best feature is holding second longer so you can shift at a higher MPH- along with the cooling fan mod and the revs that go stright to the fuel cut and the increased rush at around 5k rpm and etc etc.

puts a smile on your face for very few dollars

I have been watching the RB race flash comments closely and learning a lot.
It sound like the cooling system kit is the wisest first move

I have to agree with getting the RB flash. I've spent pretty much all day reading about the flash and along with a "little" powergain it's well worth it, if not at least for the cooling mod. I was considering the mazsport cooling mod for $150 and figured for another $150 i can get a little more "umph" out of the car --> well worth it.

Guess the question is, is cali the only place it can be done? I'm in GA, i cant imagine being without my daily ride for like a week....
