The directions from RB are pretty good, I installed my header in the garage on jack stands in about 3hrs. The directions tell you to remove the cross-member and it even tells you the tools needed. The hardest part of the install was tightening the header bolts.

I installed a midpipe, header, and intake all in the same day so I can't give a accurate description of the sound or any performance gains.

Sounds the same with my setup....Just a higher pitch -- you can hear the rotory goodness...

I feel its faster to 9k RPM and its not a butt dyno either.

Just did mine yesterday, unfortunately, The guy did it for me messed up the oxygen censor, it was hard to take it off the OEM header so he had to take it out by force. call Napa, quoted me with $300 for a new censor,...... I had to use a used oxygen censor from him, seem like it working fine, but my check light engine is came off. i'm fucked. ..... do you guys know any place that sell that censor for cheap..

after install the header ( it is a GTSPEC Exhaust Header btw), it does sound different from my custom exhaust. I feel a bit different too when i'm driving. I like it alot. i didn't put a gasket on between the header and the midpipe, used long bolt to tight it up. waiting for new set of spark plugs and spark plugs wire, after that the stabilizer ground kit, and then the AP, I hope to gain about 240 Whp after all the NA with the AP. so far I have, motorsport pulley system, ACT pro flightwheel, Exedy Stage 1 clutch, AEM intake, custom exhaust, Gt Spec Header. do you think i can get about 240 Whp with the AP?

^ No, 240 WHP for NA is not realistic. Be happy with anything north of 200

so there is only about 20 WHP gain after all, what was it before AP.

Didn't do a before and after but most stock 8's seem to do between 170 and 180 WHP on a Dynojet

Get an ignition system, like BHR and change all your plugs and wires. When you will do a dyno with everything tuned with the Ignition system and new spark plugs, you might just hit 210whp.

You also need to change your ignition system to something better and change your plugs and wires. When you get all that done and tuned, you should be able to get around 210whp.

We had to remove the ******* crossmember cause you cant fit the damn RB header in cause it sticks out 2 much. plus the ******** that sold me the header didnt give me the bolts for the damn emissions air pump and those were a ******* bitch to get installed too......

Now the good....Im not joking when i say the RB header increases low end RPM like a bitch!!! Its not no butt dyno either and it sounds awesome!!! The speed to redline is way faster than before and i know i redline my car almost 20 times a day so when i took it around the block the redline was faster.

If you got the time man its definity worth the install but it is is a bitch -- a lift would make it so much easier! remember you have to remove the cross member when doing it or it wont fit.

Gambean man thanks so much for your hard work.....
I know this thread is a few months old, but this information is priceless.

You need to remove the crossmember, or you will be cursing a storm trying to get it through the space.

I am currently saving some $ so that I can get the RB header and install it in the spring '10 (maybe winter '09 if I get the urge).

Are there any specialized tools needed for the job? I have the basics; socket set, universal joints in all necessary sizes, jack & stands... Just making sure there isn't some crazy thing needed that will stump me half-way through the install.

Thanks for all the members who have posted pictures and instructions to this point...this is the exact thread I needed.

Also, if anyone knows of other good "header installation threads" please post links...I can't find any other relevant ones.

No special tools are needed. You need basic hand tools, a breaker bar or air tools to get the bracing out is a big plus. Remove the engine mount and you're all set. I'd recommend recruiting a friend to help, it really helps.
