Thanks for putting out the effort.
It was worth a shot.

Anyone have any info on the ram air extension for the REVi ??
I saw some comments about it, but nothing specific. (unless I missed it)

EDIT: I missed it.
We are currently developing a Ram Air Intake Duct for use with the REVi (and most other aftermarket) intake system. This duct will collect air from the nose opening and feed it directly into the intake mouth. Tooling is currently being produced from the prototype master, we hope to have this duct available later this spring

Possible solution

Let's say we go through RX8STORE (Jason). He's the one receiving the payments and paying Racing Beat. So everyone would send the payment to Jason.
Then, Racing Beat receives a list of people participating, and drop-ships the intakes to those addresses.
For Racing Beat, this would be like selling to RX8STORE, except that the shipping addresses would be different.
I realize that for Racing Beat, shipping individual intakes instead of sending a large shipment is more complicated and more expensive, but this way at least one leg of the shipping can be spared.

Edit:
What I really don't understand is Racing Beat's stance about not doing any volume discounts. If we could do this through them, everything would be much simpler. If they could offer the intakes at the same price plus shipping they'd get from RX8STORE, they could make a good sale with 60+ intakes. Why no group buy discount?

I also thought RB would be able to give the best deal, but they told me they WILL NOT offer a discount for group buys, and asked me to go to a dealer in order to try to get a discount. Once again, ill say that its the shipping thats killing us. Charles said that RB would not drop-ship and therefore would cost about 15 bucks more than if they did. I dont know why, but they just dont seem to like group buys.

Apparently they don't care about losing a bunch of possible sales. Instead of selling 60+ intakes, they might sell 30 or 40. Doesn't seem logical to me, but if that's their business decision, not much can be done.

Well you guys can look at it this way. If Racing Beat started giving discounts to group buys, than who would want to buy individually and pay more? I think from Racing Beat's point of view is that they would not be able to make as much per unit as they would if they stuck to the strick policy. In the end, it was worth the shot. Thanks RotaryManiac for putting in the effort.

Any one has a weight a of the Revi in the box?
Also the dimensions of the packing box.
I live in the middle of the USA and my company ships Fed-Ex ground
And International.
(Have some good shipping rates)
If the main buyer ships to me, I can ship to all of you.
(At cost!)
But I need the weights and dimensions of the Revi to see what I get myself into!
Can give the Fed-Ex lady a call to tell here my plan and maybe can get an even better deal.

Don't get your hopes op yet, but the more people who are in on it the better....

EDIT: If RB agrees I can even send them the shipping labels.
They only have to slap them on the boxes and call Fed-Ex.

(They would have no extra labor or cost, just sticking labels on the boxes…)

Yes, but due to the group buy, there might be a number of people who would be more willing to buy seeing a 10-15% discount. That number of sales is lost - the question is: how big is this number?
Judging based on how many people are willing to jump on a moderate discount vs. buying stuff for full price, I think this might be significant and ultimately, they probably lose more on the lost volume than the amount of discount they'd give. Remember, not everybody who would participate in the group buy will now go out and buy the intake for full price.
Besides, Racing Beat would not really lose anything with the group buy vs. selling through dealers, since the dealers are selling the intake cheaper than RB. All they'd have to do is to offer the intake for a similar price like they sell it to the dealers. No losses for them.

But this is really a moot point to ponder because they are not willing to play. Oh well.
They also probably don't want to **** off their dealers by undercutting their price with a group buy.

The thing thats killing us is the shipping from RB in California to him in Georgia. Then he has to ship out again. Shipping is about 17 dollars from RB to him. He said that if he sells the units for 295 shipped, he would only be making about 6 dollars per unit. Anyway, i believe the price he thinks he can do is something around 315 shipped, and at that price, we might as well buy straight from him without the group buy because he sells for 295 + shipping. I believe Jason from WWW.RX8STORE.NET said he could offer them for 280 + shipping, and he said he would post (today) what he could do for us. In any case, with the club fees, we would have to add about another 13 dollars. So even with the group buy discount from either Charles or Jason it would be something like this $280 per unit + shipping + 13 dollar club fee for the group buy. If anyone has a solution to the shipping costs, or a better price on the Revi please chime in. Sorry if i got everyone's hopes up.
If we go through rx8store why would there be a group buy fee since they are already a paid vendor that can sell on the forum?

Well, how about RB looks at it this way.
I was willing to be part of the group buy, but now I'm not going to bother with a REVi. So they would've got some money from me, but now they're going to get no money from me.

btw, thanks RM for trying.

Yep, this is exactly the reaction I was thinking of... but alas, RB doesn't seem to care if they are going to lose some sales.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I got mine from Jason at the RX8 store, and it was shipped directly from RB, why are there additional shipping cost?

What was the $13 club fee going to go towards? In other words, who would get that money? Too bad it didn't pan out, it sounds like a very nice product (ie. modest volume increase, added performance).

I can understand why RB would not want to **** off all their dealers who support them 365 days a year over a group buy to 60 people.

I don't get it 300.00 for 4hp? that's 75.00 per 1hp and greddy is charging 3000.00 for 60hp that's 50.00 per 1hp! Which comes with an intake most likely not as efficent as the RB because the RB is enclosed but even still.

I'd rather save my money and buy the turbo I know there are a few more items that need to be added to the kit so it runs at it's best but still 300.00 for 4hp is a little steep.

I am not a power hungry guy. My reason for getting this intake is because I've heard of the positive results in the increased fuel economy department. I know you guys will be saying that I won't save that much and for roughly $450 CDN, it wouldn't be logical, but with gas as expensive as in my town, I can use whatever that helps.

Are there any aftermarket dealers in SoCal that could do this? Shipping to Georgia and then back is expensive...but if there is someone down there that can just pick them up, then there won't be that double shipping fee.

Just a thought.
