RACING BEAT PCM FLASH for the '05 models is OUT
Thanks, but I was hoping you knew the differences like if the OMP has a different profile in "race" vs. "street", and pumps more oil, and could list them here. Why two versions if we are getting this to complement our mods? Like me with intake and exhaust system?
I believe the MOP runs at 100% under open loop heavy load, leaving the only software adjustment range in the lower load areas. You'll either need pre-mix or the mechanical MOP mod offered by RB for more oil during high load conditions.

if I was running FI I would probably consider it just as Racing Beat suggested. For an NA engine pre-mixing 1/2 oz per gal fuel (1:256) seems to be an adequate safeguard, you can exceed that without a cat converter
I know of a lot of owners competing with NA RX-8s, they seem to be far and few with having any oiling related issues

LOL, I never looked at that, thanks for the correction, not discussed in any of the website information
I would think that racers would be willing to accept any consequences of running more aggressive setting, just a guess

Jim Mederer and Jim Langer have both expressed to me that the flash tunes do not allow the exhaust temps to exceed the maximum temp the cat can withstand- that was the end point for their tuning of their "street" flashes. As much power as couldbe had without sacrificing the cat.
The race version does not worry about cat life. it assumes you are running with out one.
How about a high flow cat like the Rotary Performance one? Hmmm, I guess I could guinea pig it and see how long the RP cat lasts with the race flash. LOL
I was more interested in, if there is more power with the "race" flash, what is it? What are the exact differences?

I wonder if they could "turn off" the CEL for not having a cat. I've seen other programmers for other vehicles that basically ignore the code for a cat CEL and don't display the light.
In either case, how would one obtain the super special "race" flash assuming you're running a mid-pipe? Are there any dyno charts?

i talked to someone at racing beat during ss9 and they told me that the difference between the two flashes is only the race version is for an open exhaust system and it barely has any gains over the street version. probably around one or half a hp. haha
