I find that my mpg hasn't gone up or down (I have a mix of highway and city driving and very short distance driving). But I can say that my car seems to perform better @ high rpms. As I stated on my first post on this thread, my 8 has had some electrical problems in the past. Now, everything is running smoothly. Flex FTW.

FTMFW in my eyes. :P

I received and installed my Flex Innovations kit today. I got the black wires with the flame retardant diamond weave on it. The wire quality was very good and the handicraft top notch.

Installation was straight forward and clean. These wires are daisy chained together and I really can't see why you would do it any other way without getting that spaghetti monster look in your engine bay (which I wanted to avoid).

As far as driveability, I haven't noticed any difference but for $40 and a few theoretical benefits, it satisfied my curiosity. I'll continue to evaluate.

any updates? Im going back and forth rather to order these i have an 04 w/ rough idle and what not. this really help the idle?

rotary.enthusiast 01-05-2009 05:05 PM

Probably not. All 8's idle a little rough unless you up the idle speed a bit. If it's very bad, plugs/wires/coils are a more likely candidate for fixing it.

volcomx31 01-05-2009 05:09 PM

i noticed a smoother idle..thats about it

wassup_nuthin 01-05-2009 05:59 PM

nah its not really bad just like normal ide say. I ordered them so i'll post up my review also.. im hoping i just didnt waiste 40 bux

Mr.&Mrs.Magic 01-05-2009 08:17 PM

To be completely honest I didn't notice a thing different. Maybe that's because my idle is increased by the AP dunno. Stero sounds the same and my lights still dim when I turn the stearing wheel. It's only $40 bucks so what the hey the theory is sound and that's 1 more thing to add to the list of PREFORMANCE:uhh: mods.

wassup_nuthin 01-07-2009 03:15 PM

lol, well im going to pretend mine makes my car faster that way when i install them my brain will make it seem faster.. lol

Bring this thread back to life. I just ordered a set of the Flex Innovations gorunding kit. Really no hard evidence if grounding kits do anything besides taking your money. But i had 15 dollars in my paypal account from selling stuff on hear so it only cost me 25 dollars, not to bad.

Gdawg522 03-11-2010 08:06 AM

I just ordered a set of these as well. Hoping to install them before the March 21rst Sushi Meet. I'll update after the install.

Did you check with the multimeter? As far as I could tell, you go from a couple of ohms of grounding resistance to practically none at all. You aren't really extending the life of the battery or reducing the relative load of the alternator with this mod, but it might help and it won't hurt.

Unless you ground a live part and make a short =p

invasion08 03-11-2010 09:44 AM

I have not received them yet, just ordered them 2 days ago. I figured for 25 dollars out or pocket i would give them a try. All i know is it can not hurt.

invasion08 03-26-2010 05:52 PM

Just installed them today but have not driven yet. Very high quality grounding wires at a good price. The install was straight forward and easy. And I did not check with a multimeter.

b'Eight' 03-26-2010 09:30 PM

If I check with a voltmeter, how should I set up the voltmeter? I really don't know how to use this thing but I have one. Let me know and I'll go take measurements. I've had my kit on for almost a year now. Since this thread is revived, I'm curious what my meter reads.

invasion08 03-27-2010 09:07 PM

I do not know if it all in my head but the throttle response feels better, idle about the same and no data on mpg yet.

Blacknightz 04-17-2010 10:01 AM

How is this any differentz from the purple HKS grounding earth wires?

Blacknightz 04-22-2010 10:50 AM

anyone knows?

van 06-11-2012 04:02 AM

Is this kit still being sold? I've emailed via Flex Innovation's website and I'm not getting any response.

paimon.soror 06-11-2012 06:19 AM

yes it is, just got my kit: http://www.flex-innovations.com/rx8.htm

FWIW, not noticing a massive difference, but it did reduce my interior lighting flicker (LED), as well as far more accuracy on my gauges.

ShellDude 06-11-2012 07:13 AM

while I've never seen the dyno sheets to prove it, I've been told from a reliable source that grounding kits such as these actually do translate to better high end power. We speculated it was due to ignition improvements.

How about your idle? Does it budge when the AC fans kick-in?

You know what, i totally forgot about this "benefit". To the point that I would be sitting in line waiting to run my autox run and would turn on the AC since it was hot while I waited ... I was confused as to why my idle didn't dip when I turned on the AC (i was expecting that my exhaust would amplify the idle dipping) ... I was confused why the idle didn't dip....can't believe I didn't make the connection.

Checked today and confirmed, no idle dipping.

nicely donez.... why didnt get the diamond ones?

lgilbert50 08-07-2012 10:45 AM

It all sounds like smoke & mirrors to me. About 12-15 years ago Stereo Review did a article about high end hook up wires. They set up 2 identical systems with the only difference being one had top of the line wiring costing $400 and the other they used ac zip cord for the speakers and the cheap hook up wire that came with the preamp, amp etc. They then had 4 staff members who supposedly had a expert ears listen to the same music over each system. Guess what, 3 of the four picked the cheap wired system as sounding the best. Perhaps a car can benefit from super size ground wires, I don't know but I am very wary of the grounding systems especially since no one comes up with hard evidence of improvements. To me any improvements might the correction of bad grounds. Just my rambling two cents worth.
