PRM New Intake REVIEW!!!
#56
Power!!
It would be nice if someone plugged in a datalogger and measured the MAF and intake temp. of the stock intake and then this intake at WOT across the rev band to see the difference. Honestly with the AP or some of the other datalog tools it's not hard to measure whether or not there is an improvement in airflow with intakes. We already have a highly sophisticated measuring device installed.

Finallyz i got the time to review this intake.
And for the convenience of others, i'll make it shortz and simplez.
- Power and response is subtle. But is therez.
- Sound: Love the sound!!! it givez a growlingz and CRISPY racing sound.
- No idlingz issues.
- Filter is cleaned easily and is onlyz neededz every half a yearz.
- For the price, this thingz lookz sexy to me.
- No heat issues. As the tip is situated very near to the vfad hole. (if u are reallyz worried abtz this, u canz actuallyz make a heat insulation box for itz)
I reallyz like the productz and im a happy customer.
Lastlyz, id like to thankz gerry for his kind response to my queries and his kind accomadations over e-mails.
Thankz bro!

Thumper3322 buys a CAI, is nice enough to review it and gets **** on.
The CAI performs as well as the mazda CAI and sounds nice at a lower cost.
People on here flame him saying that its a retarded purchase because the CAI "looks shitty" and only produces a 3-5whp gain.
Thumper3322 states that the reason he likes the CAI is because it PRODUCES better sound and faster throttle response. He doesn't even care about the 3-5 WHP gain.
People keep flaming him because the CAI looks shitty and honestly I agree. After all when you have a car that is as beautiful to drive as ours, you really want to spend most of your time parked in a mall parking lot with the hood up and the engine cover removed showing off some shiny intake.
and you guys really believe Thumper3322 is the "retard" here, fair enough. Seems to be a reoccuring theme over at RX8CLUB.
Have fun sitting in a parking lot admiring your engine bay this weekend. I'll be driving the ice fields parkway, climbing above treeline and back below. The only time I'll have my engine bay open is to add oil.
Thanks for the review Thumper3322.

"all intakes are a waste but at least the Revi is built nice and looks OEM"
all intakes are a waste but at least the PRM is cheap, sounds nice, performs better than the Mazda CAI (allows you to drive through a car wash)

While I am certainly not as well versed as many of you, from what I have seen, others have tried to beat the OEM intake and can't produce much better (i.e. more horsepower). In fact, RB admitted it was a challenge. No one has documented in this thread whether the PRM intake either gains HP or loses HP. If it doesn't lose HP, then it's all about the sound. Thumper likes the sound. Others may not. What IS important is that he likes it for HIS car. He isn't trying to sell these to anyone, just getting information out about a product. I agree, it should be tested. It would be great to see any HP or temperature differences between this and his MS CAI.
Thumper.. Thank you for the information.

We all appreciate information but it has to be useful info. I have my opinion and its that intakes are a waste of money. The factory box is great and in combination with the RB duct I think its perfect. I think the Revi is good but over $300.00 for something that is not really better is sort of lame.
But at the end of the day, its your money and I am sure we have all blown money on stupid **** before so blowing $300.00 on a intake is up to us.

Don't worry; late next week (when I get back from family stuff in MI) I will lay this whole thing to rest and I won't need a dyno to do it. Watch for a new thread.........
