The RB site doesn’t specifically state it for the resonators used on that midpipe. Their RX8 midpipe states the resonator has stainless steel wool packing though. Those are fully sealed, so it will require cutting them open like the OE rear muffler to do replace the packing.

I didn’t have to cut anything apart to either install it or physically verify the end result.

Cut and left the oemmid perforated pipe only..put a stainless perforated pipe with 2mm holes to connect the exits and cut the oem perforated pipe to have a open hole connection with the new pipes..wrapped it stainless steel wire and filled with rock wool hard pressed.

What made you go for the solid rock wool?
It will be intetesting to see how you go with noise dB and drone. Please update after testing.

Just a quick update on my system above.
Done a total of approx 2000km on this system, including a recent accross state 1200km trip. No issues or sound changes at all. I am really happy with it for sound levels and drone. In short, I could not be happier with this setup. Will still retest the same sound tests in about 4 months.
I will now throw the spare cash i saved on not buying an overpriced catback on coilovers!

i dont know why i went with solid rock wool..maybe its more dense and has more sound deadening effect i dont know..i havent got round to puttiong the exhaust ,.i already have a Golf 5 Aftermarket modified muffler at the back now but i dont like the sound..its not loud but soundwise i dont like it.. thats why i modified the oem..
in any case i will report back with it
in the meantime i got H&R coilovers and i am pretty happy with the way they ride
installed them myself.

the stuff I posted will work much better

the Hymee exhaust system from way back in the day used something similar to it.

if that hard stuff is moving around the least little bit then it will likely break up and be pulverized over time by the frequency vibrations.

There are 2 types available..hard wool and loose wool..rock wool i have used the loose one ...quiets jt down almost as stock car .other 4 banger..not the stock rx8.. hard one should even more..
wool is protected with the stainless wool over the perforated pipes

You can pick a decent Catback with under name of toyosport/japseed for a reasonable price. They are great for shooting flames ;D
The only downside is the so-called drone noise which I personally like as it is like posing sound.

Also for drone noise, you can add a little cute Helmholtz resonator.

do you have a clip with the exhaust you posted (toyosport/japspeed/gravity) dual resonator? I’ve asked them about it and they told me it’s filled with fiberglass…

You better ask for something else loll
This is Toyosport and it was on my car when I purchase it, this is an old clip which I was checking my 2ndry air valves operation based on exhaust note.... old D585 coils, old intake, cold and warm spark plugs on diff rotors, noisy idler pulley and some other things were wrong! octain99 + permix increased oil injector with shone, 10k rev limtter, and ghetto decat are present loll
Also crappy iPhone mic.

Modified back box same tests as above.
90 db behind car and 80 db in car.

So i finally retested the sound of this modified OEM backbox. It has done approx 4000km of touring and spirited back roads driving. Happy to report no noticable sound or performance changes at all over time. Same sound test results as above.

I really like the satin black OEM look knowing it was modified to flow. If you are a bit of a DIY person then I would definitely recommend doing this mod knowing there is not a lot of power that can be extracted with any of the exxy available systems.

I think i have already pumped the cash saved from this mod and others documented into fuel for touring. I do get that others just prefer shiny systems and that is all good too. Enjoy what you do! 😃
