The problem is that in threads like this, attempting to help someone like the op will more than likely cause more harm than good. If the person doesn't have the time and patience to sit in a chair for a couple hours and learn about their cars what makes you think they are going to take MORE time and energy doing a modification properly?! Then that same person who had their hand held in the first place is back on here bitching because what we said to do didn't work. If I actually saw a legitimate question that had not been covered a million times asked,I would help. as far as I an concerned, discouraging a lazy person from touching their car and screwing it up IS helping them.

double negative?

I think one of the main reason people here get sick of threads like this is because 96.34144% of them are speculation and theory, but not enough elbow grease. Day after day threads are created that say 'i was wondering if someone could ...' , 'i was wondering how this could ... ' , 'in theory this would ...' . For the love of god, why doesn't that person do some research, put that research to good use, either eff up their car or find something new that everyone could benefit from.

If you are afraid to do the research, experimenting, and risk damaging your car, then you shouldn't even have been asking the question in the first place.

There you go again with the authoritarian I know this and that crap. Classic. Nobody here is qualified to inform you of anything because you already know it all. Just keep believing that.

Ok I installed the header test pipe and catback this weekend and I managed to remove the CEL, and kept it from coming on without using Cobb.

Often it will go for weeks before it throws a CEL...you aren't out of the woods yet.

Some cars never do though....you may get lucky

I have put close to 700 miles on the car, any chance that is not enough?

There is no definite answer, you could get a cel in 1 mile or you could never get one. Without you saying your fix nobody can say how long it is likely to last, chances are someone has tried it before.
