noob here/Straight pipe and OBD II?

Hello fellow rotary enthusiasts... I do not own an 8 but I've been a rotary fan for longer than I can remember probably about ten years I’m now 20. My uncle was a rotary guy so I was introduced early so my goal is to find out if I want a 7 or an 8. I've been researching for a few months now on the 8 and I am aware that the 7 will make massive amounts more power but I figure I will be replacing all the twin scroll, cooling and all other reliability mods on the 7 so why not just ADD the pieces to an 8. I’m also brand new to your board so I hope I can fit in nicely. Onto my question...

Sense the RX8, is OBD II will straight piping it (im talking no cat, just 2.5 piping to a single muffler) cause it to run some sort of safety mode? If so is there some kind of resistors trick I can try to trick the ECU into not thinking it is?

Thanks again a sorry for the long intro btw. :D
