derr.. what's this thread about?

and what's this about the ram air duct having bees? Or are you saying it looks like it should have bees? Or maybe that bees would mistake the duct for a hive? Or maybe that it's the battleground where the bees and mini ninjas do battle?

That means the engine is getting a good supply of air and the filter is doing it's job properly. Can't argue with that!

that's the new AEM oil-less Dry-Flow filter, should be on the MS CAI whenever it finally gets released ...

the filter media is 9" long, I think yours is only average ...

My filter is average size but it had tons of bugs (bees and other asundry flying insects) on it when I removed it to 'recharge' it. I have no idea what is in my Ram Air duct and not sure I want to now. There was no water and the filter was very dirty (one year and about 10K miles).

Two very light coating of the red 'recharge' oil, and back in business with better performance than ever.

My filter is shaped like a mushroom, and my pipping is curved.

Just remember that you only need as much filter area as can adequately flow the needs of your engine. Anything else is just extra with no benefit to performance. However, a larger filter will not clog as fast.

aint it the truth, and as I learned tonight she doesn't like too much flow at idle

the old Rotary Extreme intake tube with the AEM filter wouldn't quite cut it tonight, just running it up on jackstands the CEL would flash for anything above 2000 rpm, it never locked on though despite a lot of no-load running at all kinds of rpm, at idle when I removed the filter off the short tube it just died instantly. Didn't have the computer with me to do a CANScan check on the status though, but I assume it was thescreenless short ram intake causing the flashing CEL.

this was all just preliminary though, I was only running the car for the coolant flush/replacement procedure. The final system will be quite different from what I had on tonight just to run the car. This mother is extremely responsive on throttle blips with the Speedsource pullies and A/C delete , and this is with the factory exhaust on, definitely going to be a difference there when it's all said and done. My goal is to get the custom manifold and exhaust done, if not this weekend, then the next.
