MY OMP never worked
I am really happy I installed a Sohn OMP adapter when I first bought my car because the OMP never worked. I have the adapter connected to a small 2stroke reservoir and it only burned a few ounces of oil in the past 30,000miles. I knew right away that I needed to premix.
Couldn’t I just cap off the nipple on the OMP adapter and just premix?
I would rather use the 2stoke reservoir for my windshield washer fluid.

Original Turbo 'd Auto !!
I don't see why not. I had to remove the OMP for my turbo project and plan to pre-mix.
I also know several rx7 owners that pre-mix exclusively.

I know that's what some of the race teams do. Seems kind of inconvient for daily use but if you're doing it every time anyway why not.
One of the benefits I'm told is a much cleaner engine internally.

Best of both worlds.

I was planning on getting the OMP adapter myself, but ended up deciding to try pre-mix only. I zero'd out all the OMP tables with the AP and have been premixing ~1 oz. per gallon for the last 4 months with no (noticeable) ill effects so far. I keep two small bottles of two stroke in the trunk, and just dump the entire contents of one in at a fill up.
I'm not 100% certain that the OMP isn't still putting out a little bit of engine oil, but my oil level hasn't changed noticeably between oil changes. I also started the heavier pre-mix one full gas tank before turning off the OMP.
Still not sure if it's a great idea or not. I guess I won't know until my engine dies and I have to tear it apart.

turbo, you said your OMP never worked? How much 2 stroke have you been running to counteract the faulty OMP? With a non-functioning OMP you should be running atleast an ounce per gallon of fuel, just to be on the safe side. If you haven't been I bet your engine is f'd after running like that for 30k.

^I'd up it more....I'm using 8oz with my OMP still pumping away..since yours is not working like you said....I'd listen to I8U and use At LEAST 1 oz per gal

I've actually been considering the direct opposite and dialing down via the AP and increasing the amount of premix. With the two injector locations on the majority of our engines I'm not sold that cranking it up is superior to premixing. At this point I suppose like many other things this argument is academic and what floats your boat. But my rationale is that I have little interest in doing a sohn adapter and would rather have 2 stroke enter the combustion chamber rather and oil from the pan.

My question is has anyone taken an OMP off the 8 and cleaned it down when they did an oil change? If so how much of a PITA was it to bleed the system when you disconnected the lines? How did you clean it? And from what I've read the typical rate is 1 qt every 3k miles should be consumed or is that with the AP flash only. Since getting the car from the dealer used a few months ago I presume it should already have the latest flash that bumped the oil consumption rate up... but assumptions are a dangerous thing.
